I was looking at your website and noticed you have 3 dogs with blueback in them. This is the same one also known as spicers blueback right? I have a pup right now that has blueback in her. I was just wondering how you like your dogs that have blueback in them? My pup seems like she is going to be real brush buster. Are your dogs the same way?

Blueback is the grandfather to my pups on the Dam's side. I owned 3 dogs out of this litter and they all have one thing in common and that is the ability to hold the line. I currently have 2 males and I sold the female because she stayed small and was just a little to slow for my pack, she was a very solid young dog and the guy that has her loves her. The big male is fast and has good line control, the other male is a little slower but has good control also. I would say that the hunt they have comes from somewhere other than Blueback as he was not known for his hunt. Most people say that he didn't have much hunt at all, but could flat out pound a rabbit once it got up. My dogs were crossed with a line of dogs that had good jumping ability so all of them have turned out to be pretty decent jump dogs. Overall I like their looks and their ability, but I would always recommend crossing them with something that had a good amount of hunt. Jason Schag has a tape out that shows some Blueback dogs running and I have heard that it is very good. Lamar Rhodes in Ohio has a direct son of Blue Back that I have heard is pretty decent. He is an arha Champion and his name is O's Blue Belly. I think he is running a stud add on him in either the American Beagler Magazine or the Rabbit Hunter. I have heard he has very good foot and line control.

Hey thanks alot big dog. My pup has blueback in the dam side also. Her top side is line breed Hanks Jo-Jo blue. She is only a pup but she loves the brush. She must get this from jo-jo blue. She is a little hard headed but is handling easier every time I have her out. Hey thanks for the info. Great article in the magazine. Sounds like you have some fine hounds. By the way you have some good looking hounds and a nice looking website. Keep running hard. Thanks

Hi Jeremy, I have heard the same thing about Blue Back that big dog said but I wouldn't assume that the pup you got from me got her hunt from her father. I own them both and even though my redtick JoJo Blue dog has decent hunt he can't hold a candle to the mother of you're pup. She is double Spicer bred which is almost impossible to find or at least it has been for me. The mother to you're pup is by Spicer's Blue Back but her mother was Spicer's Ginger. She was never trialed but from what I hear Scott and Bert Spicer very seldom went to the field with the gun that they did'nt have her with them. Earl Bruner hunted with her and he said she had a lot of hunt. In his opinion she was a better dog than Blue Back. If you knew Earl Bruner then you would understand that those are words to take to heart because he deffinatley knows his dogs. When we get together next year and run the littermates we'll take there mother as well. I'm sure you will be very pleased with what you see. She is 8 years old and has started to slow down just a tad but she will still hunt my young dogs in the ground and will check them to death. If you get a chance send me a picture of you're pup.

Hey Scott. That little pup seems like she is going to have alot of hunt and search. She opened up on a sight chase yesterday and man is she going to be loud. She has started using her nose a little but has not quiet figured out what to do when she smells the track. When she jumps the rabbit its on. She tears through the brush after. Once she looses it she starts using her nose. She can't figure it out yet, but she busts the brush and won't give up until she has another one up. She has alot of energy and that is one of the things I like about her. I think she is going to make a real rabbit dog. I can't wait to show her off next year. I will send you a picture by e-mail tomorrow. I don't have any recent ones right now. I'll send you some pics of my starting pen too. The dogs can't sight chase for very long unless they are rockets. She will figure out what do with her nose in due time. Just need to work with her. Good hearing from you. Later

I'm glad you like her. Does she have a good solid chop or Sqaull. Her brother Streak has a nice chop. How are the pups doing you got from Oakhill blueticks.
