Question about predicting a pup's full grown height.....

Post by Briarhoppers »

I have two 6 mo. old pups and they are looking like they are both going to stay small. Both are fed a quality feed and are still on self serve so they get all they want. My question is at 6 mo. how much taller are they going to get?

I know this varies by dogs and I remember seeing someone post a while back a chart that tracked their pups height at each month, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

In all the ones I have has they got there legs under them at 4-6 months then slowed down and usually not much more up to a year. Seemed to just
thicken up. I have not seen much change after 10 months other than muscle mass. How big are they now?

Try this ;

I have used it and it is VERY accurate when used on 6-8 week pups. :check:

Thanks for the replies. The pups are 6 mo. old and I'd say one of them is about 12" and the other is about 10". But I haven't tried to actually measure them.

I would bet the 10 inch one is not going to 13, but you never know. The 12 inch could make 14, but in my cases they have only grown a
half and inch or so from about 8 months on. Hope they work out for you no matter what there size!

I had one that measured 14 3/4" at 9 months old and I just knew he was going over but he ended up right on 15" so it is really hard to tell. Some grow different than others.

I have always gone by the rule; measure at 6months and add an inch. It has been true more than not.

Measure from the top of the withers to the ground. Front legs perpendicular to the ground and the same width appart from the elbows to the feet. Dog should be relaxed and natural. Different bloodlines seem to vary. I have seen some gain only a little height after 7 months while others seem to just keep growing. No absolute formula to offer.
