My nephew and I were running some of our pups yesterday and after I left him, his little bro and buddy one of our young males hunted up to the top of this strip job and when he bumped him to get him back he came runnin down the hill with two big yotes right on his heals. My nephew said he ran towards them as they were chasing him yelling and waving his arms and they paid no attention to him until they got within about 15 - 20 yards. He said only then did they stop chasing the pup and even when they did they just stood there and only trotted off after words. He said they showed very little fear of him. He went up in search of there den with no luck.

Anyone have any yote dogs that want to come on a yote hunt?????????? This is an open invite to you yote hunters with hounds???? I run this place NON-STOP and can not aford to have yotes in this place. PLEASE BRING A FEW HOUNDS DOWN, OVER, OUT, UP or where ever it is your coming from and get RID OF THES SOB'S.

Pack heat! You know what I mean by that. Had the same thing a couple years ago. When they are defending there turf they won't run!

I still want to get 2 or 3 Irish Wolf Hounds and train them to run with the beagles for instances like that. Glad to hear your dogs weren't hurt and good luck cleaning the place up.

Eael Bruner has a big shepherd he takes with him and has him trained to watch his dogs. I don't think he goes with them but he just stands watch. I would like to get me a good Pit Bull pup and raise it with my beagles just for protection. I have a big ol shepherd loose here at the house that wouldn't bite a biscuit but he seems to stop the yote problem here.

Yotes are bad here too. Not to take anything away from polly Jimbo, but if them yotes knew the redneck that was coming to back her, I'd say they checked out of the valley for good :D

What part of Ohio are you in? I was in the predator call biz for about 15 years. Dogwood Creek Calls to be exact. I have alot of connections over on the Predator Masters forums. Maybe I can send someone your way. A bunch of fellers run yote hounds here in PA too. I would think we can scare up a interested party or two. I'll see what I can do. What are the regs concerning yote hunting in the spring there?

I live in the east central part of Ohio. That would be freaking awsome if someone would come down and kill a few. There are no regs here. You can do whatever you want to kill them except posin year round. let me know what you get gathered up. Thanks a million Rockdog!!!!

This is the worst time of the year for coyotes bothering your beagles. They have pups in the den or later out and about and they are at their boldest!
I have had three coyote attacks on my beagles in the last several years, thankfully none fatal.Just tore them up some.Luckily I was close by every time and ran in hollering and yelling and got them to take off.
I'm licensed to carry and now always have a handgun with me when pleasure running.
Went to a trial this past weekend and got some funny looks from some folks at the .38 on my belt but if i save a hounds life or can kill a coyote what the heck.Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!!!!

I wouldnt advise the youngins to go lookin for their den this time of year. Coyotes are very protectfull of their offspring and wouldnt think twice about attacking a child if they felt their pups were in danger. I have 7 coyote hounds and run them year round and this time of year they always get tore up alot worse than even winter time day hunting. 9 months out of the year coyotes will run hard 3 months of the year they will DEFEND their turf to protect their offspring. My advise to you would be to find someone in your area who likes to call its just to warm from here on out to run the big hounds in the daylight.

Mark,
OH MY GOODNESS, You are absolutely right about them being on the south west side. That is precisely were they came from that night. The sun hits this hill all day lone. What's the chances that they didn't move the pups once we walked threw the place looking for there den? Thanks for the info. I'm sure we'll get them taken care of somehow or another. I'm scared to death to run this area anymore and this is my honey hole that I run 5 - 6 hours a day 6 - 7 days a week. I have entirely too much time in my hounds for them to get killed by a darn yote.
Thanks for your help.
