so much credit goes to check dogs and front runners. i want to hear about the best jumpdogs!!!! and i don't mean strike dogs but JUMP DOGS. if you've ever owned a good one you know what i mean. my best ones have both been females!!!! it would be almost be a tie between willow and a blueback branko cross female belle.

To much credit goes to Front Runners, not enough credit goes to Jump dogs or Check dogs.


I run with Adam Seger and I have always liked his Sarah dog. This dog is straight out of MJR Mitsou Argentuil Striker and Seger's Star. Great jump dog!!!

Best 3 jump dogs I've seen in a trial r Sico sandy...a dog I judged at the world that was owned by the judge of the year this year...Idont know his name but it was a lemon dog and Kellys Blue Ice thje dog we have that has pups on the ground rite now by New Country Dealer...

This trait impresses me more than any other in a beagle.
1. Grade dog that became a champ in LP. Troyer's Tiny. pure jump
2. Lp Champ, Buckeyebold Redbull. Not a slouch
3. Buckeyebold Amazing Grace. Pure jump
4. Pretty much anything Bill Domen (Domens Northern Blue) feeds and breeds to.

a dog Bart caudill owns named smoke if there is a rabbit there 9 times out of ten he is going to be the one to jump it.

Turbo Powered by Turbo is hands down the best jump dog I have ever saw go. I love a jump dog thats why all the young dogs I have are out of him.

This is something that really interests me, I am just starting out what is the best way for me go go about getting a Jump dog. Is there a particular line or kennel I should be looking at?

Aaron there are alot of Lines that produce,Good Jump dogs.You Just have to research them, see them run and find what you like.

And the Best Jump dog that i have seen/run with was HBCH Git-R-Done Katie.This little female was almost guaranteed to get the jump, and she has produced pups with the same quality.

I run 5 hounds, any one of them can jump a rabbit and run it. If a dog is gonna run a rabbit, they have to jump it. I know there are some dogs that hang back till a rabbit is jumped. Those don`t need to be in the woods. If you are hunting one dog and he jumps the rabbit then hes a jump dog. If you are out with a bunch of dogs and the same dog jumps all the rabbits, then he`s a hell of a jump dog.

Both of mine have good jump not the best but they go hunting

I have never hunted with Burr Oak Burt but only heard about him but he must be one heck of a jump dog i have owned a few of his pups and still do and they are hunting machines and i dont know what some consider a jump dog but thats what i call them Geter Done

I am not covinced that being a good jump dog is the result of genetics. IMO, it is a "learned thing" by a dog that has been given many hours in the brush running rabbits. Part of this "learned ability" comes from an owner/trainer that took the time to show the dog where Mr Bunny is likely to be sitting until the dog habitually checked those places on it's own. It goes without saying, a good jump dog begins with a good rabbit dog. I believe that jump dogs are made and not born. Great dogs, like average dogs and culls, come with all blood lines.
Why buy a jump dog? Take the time and train you own. Much more fun, cheaper and you learn alot about the dog.

Do you think you can train one to hunt.IMO I think its got to be bred in them now i think you can train one to run but the extreme hunt is bred into them jmo.And when i say Extreme Hunt i dont mean trottin off i mean bleedin in 2 minutes
