Well I am happy I will be able to pay my car payment and my phone bill next month. then I can keep on dropping off my resume and calling to see if anybody is hiring. Oh yeah by the way I have worked since I was 14 and never without a job. Now I am 30 and have been a laid off apprentice electrician for a year and a half. I also have a family of five to feed. I would be more than happy to work but there are NO jobs and I am looking and dropping off resumes everyday. Hell even mcdonalds never called me. I guess I was over qualified.
So trust me I am not on my azz watching tv all day. Maple I am glad you have it so good that you don't have to worry about your neighbors and fellow man. Next time just remember all of us unemployed people are not lazy and just enjoying an extended vacation.

This whole thing has a two fold to it some people go out and try to find work and then there are others who get complacent with it and dont never try to get a job, And the sad part is the people have to pay for the lazy butt people out there. When I was hiring we had a bunch of people who wanted to get paid cash so they could collect unemployment I politely showed them to the door along with a few choice words ! And in michigan the jobs are not there alot but they are there you just have to want to work and keep applying. Good luck to those people who willing to work and can't find something.

From yahoo news "At issue are jobless payments averaging $309 a week for almost 5 million people whose 26 weeks of state benefits have run out. Those people are enrolled in a federally financed program providing up to 73 additional weeks of unemployment benefits.

About half of those eligible have had their benefits cut off since funding expired June 2. They are eligible for lump-sum retroactive payments that are typically delivered directly to their bank accounts or credited to state-issued debit cards."

Well dave i had a add for 2 months got 2 calls maybe tougher in migh but believe this, in kentucky theres jobs maybe not what u desire but theres jobs. I do worry btw i worry if this idiot in the white house is gonna finish us off. Good luck in the search. Union aint much down here, welfare run em out.

I know some people deserve this and jobs are scarce but some will draw this to the end and never look for work like a fellow beagler I know here in ohio .This disgusts me ,this person has worked for farmers ......... and can get work now with them fulltime but wants that couch money I have no respect for people like this he has been on it for a year now 73 more weeks ,good grief !!!

I am glad to hear there is an understanding. someone must have read what i wrote earlier and put a prayer in for me. guess what i just got a promising call and an interview scheduled for the 28th. it is for a security company that i contacted last week. the local journal did an article on them and made the company sound pretty good so i gave them a call.

maple, what is it you do? yep i bet you would have had a line up at your door if you put the add in michigan. thanks for the kind words. i do apologize for my quick reply. it is good to hear you do worry too. i understand what you say, i just have gotten sick of being grouped with the users and abusers of the system. if it was not for my step son having his dad here in michigan we would have been down south many moons ago. we even have a place were we could bunk at for awhile in north carolina.

For George W. to hire someone as a ranch hand he'd have to be able to spell HAND so as to put it in a help wanted ad! Second thought he'd be hard pressed to spell HELP as well. He'd be real good at giving those large Corporations tax breaks and allow them to stash their earnings in off shore banking facilities and not pay one red cent of taxes. Maybe his idea on economic developement and starting two wars that have cost the US tax payers trillions of dollars was a real brain stormer but I've yet to figure out how the US tax payers can get tax cuts and still finance two wars abroad and run to cater to every other foreign country in economic trouble. It makes me sick to travel to our Nations capitol and see the number of homeless people living on the streets and worse yet is the fact that a lot of them are veterans. Folks can argue politics and political parties all they want but the facts are neither party is doing right by this country and until this country gets past partisanship nothing of any value will roll out of the halls of congress or the White house.

imho, This was to prevent another wave of foreclosures. The banks are recapitalizing with free money from the Fed. The cost could take down more banks either way they borrow from the tax payer. They chose to give the money to the people rather than tarp the banks again.
I've heard this all my life, "the big picture", this is what the movie is about now.
The rugs been pulled, the jig is up, we're in the midst of the storm.
When they didn't outlaw the derivatives(weapons of mass destruction) , our fate was sealed.
