we had another great hunt yesterday. Tried a new area that haven't hunted before. I was lost half the time didn't know where I was going or how to get back to the truck. Things started off a little slow. Saw a bunch of rabbit sign in the tall grass but no rabbits. So we kept pushing the dogs in and working the brush. Finally my Leah dog jumped the first rabbit of the morning and the dogs never stopped. We jumped roughly 15 rabbits for the day. Seen some strays shoot out aswell. Running was non-stop with a few checks. Temps reached 60degrees and very windy but it didn't phase us.
My dogs are going to kill me. I"ve put so much running time on them it's not even funny. I gave them the day off today only cause 70%rain and thunderstorms.
This is video from this entire hunt. We got alot of good footage.

We hunt the thickest stuff we can find
About 4 rabbits came out of this area. 2 would shoot out from under the brushpiles at a time.
This guy was watching us
Nice quial - biggest of the season
Headshot Bunny
Dogs caught and ate half this rabbit before I took it away from them

Most of what we hunt looks like that. Alot of pushed over trees and taller grass.

Ain't that the truth. Rule of Thumb here is, "if you can walk thru it, than it is not thick enough" LOL

Go easy on him guys, I have told Joey many times that what he calls thick is what we in NC call open ground. Running that many rabbits in that cover would spoil me Joey. I ran 10 today on a solo hunt and saw one of them. Between the bleeding dog tails and the blood coming from my briar cuts you would have thought there was a massacre. Keep the stuff coming Joey, one of these days I am gonna make a road trip and sleep on your porch.

Ned I'm going with you! Awesome as always Joey! Turn them briar thickets up on about a 35 degree angle and that's what we hunt up here in these here hills!

yeah those thickets up there look easy compared to those down here where the dogs and the handler come out bleeding and still no rabbit to show for the troubles!!

That would be so smashed down after the first couple snows here in WV.
Thick is when you stand on top of about a foot or more of snow and take a wrong step and you are waist deep in multiflora rose and chest deep in snow. I had a few races last winter where I never saw my dogs or the rabbit. IM JEALOUS! And it's flat to boot.

Hmmm well sounds like you guys have it tougher than us. I'd like to see some pics of where you guys hunt. I like to look at that kind of stuff. I thought where we hunted was thick. Sometimes its hard to see anything in it but most of it you can walk thru it some what ok.

Joey I have plans on going this week and I'll take my camera with me and let you see some of the nasty mess we have here, they come in and cut all the tree's off of a 300 acre lot and then the briars come and I bought some of those Mule overall and some of those briars will come through,But if it means getting to ole Mr,cotton tail then thats were I want to go!!if you ever have plans of coming down to N.C bring those dogs with you,I have plenty of place's to run but not that many rabbits,

Seein as how they are stiff n most times layin the same way.

He seems like a knowledgeable feller. Keep up the good work and the video`s commin. I enjoy them and wish the rabbit pop was that good here.
