Does this sound legit???............Update

Post by Bunnyblaster »

I get a little leery sometimes about dealing with folks I don't know so I wanna ask and I don't mean to offend anyone.........just being a little extra careful I guess because of the scams that do go on.

Have any of you all ever used Cajun Pet Express/Pro Hound Transport? A gentleman by the name of Marcus Young is buying a young female from me and this will be my first time using a transport company. He is setting it up, paying the transportation fees, sending out a money order today for half the cost of the dog to hold it for him and then he will wire the other half plus a little gas money(I have to meet the transport guy) to me a couple of days before the dog is supposed to be picked up. Does this all sound ok to you guys??

Dave and Marcus, if you read this please don't take any offense.......and if it's all on the up and up then I'm sure you won't mind me asking for some opinions. I'm just used to face to face with people I at least know or meeting them when we do the swap. Wiring money and dog transport companies are all a new thing to a young country fella like myself.

And like I said sometimes with all the dishonest people that are out there trying to scam others I figure it never hurts to check.

I won't use a carrier who isn't willing to come out to my place or at least the nearest
town . But it all sounds legit .

As a law enforcement officer I know what you are feeling I see it every day,Just to be on the safe side ask for their drivers licence number, you could track any body from that!! And if something did go wrong or dishonest you will have a place to start.

No consolation I am sure but i have a friend that uses that dog hauler all the time,
he is always sending dogs from NY to Louisiana and they are very reputable.
Thats how IFC Awfulbawlin Viagra got from NY to Louisiana and never heard Viggs complain a bit. :D

Some people are still trustworthy you just have to look around a bit.

All sounds good to me it is up to the buyer who he chooses to haul his dog after he has paid for it once you have the money consider the dog his and once released to his hauler the dog is no longer your responsabilty I would send a good health certificate so if he shows up ill you know he left in good health however most dog haulers require a vet cert, health certificate

He is the real deal. I used him to haul one all the way from North Carolina to central Texas. He had an awesome setup (Sprinter van) with good kennels, etc... I had to meet him on the interstate also and when he gets there ask him why he doesnt come to houses and I am sure you will like his answer. It satisfied me. Plus, he is the only hauler to make a trip on time and on schedule. :D :D :D :D

Marcus bought a pup off of me a couple of years ago and this same guy hauled it. In fact he Pm'ed me a couple of weeks ago trying to find a hound out of the same bitch. I met the hauler 7 miles from my house. Nice guy.

Thanks for the input guys. Dave(aka the hauler) already called me yesterday and will be letting me know when he's gonna be coming through so I can meet him. Yes he did seem like a very professional and nice guy............and bunnybuster, he did tell me why already and I thought the same way as you.

The part I don't like is the "MONEY ORDER"! Many times a bank will take that so called money order and deposit in your account BUT a few weeks later you get a letter saying the so called money order was no good. I believe a "CERTIFIED BANK CHECK" or cash is a better way. Like the man said get his drivers license number just in case.

Make sure it is a money order I had a guy send me 4 money graims from walmart $600 each and they came from walmart but they were no good my Mom ran the number at the bank and they said they were no good and turned them it to the State Police ,I called walmart they gave me a number trying to help ,they told me there was no way any one could get into there money graims so I had the State cop tell them different if its not cash just watch it

I talked to Marcus again yesterday while he was running his dogs.......and btw they sounded like they were hammering!! Anyway, he sounds like a pretty good guy and has kept in touch and done everything he said he would. I had to apologize to him yesterday for posting this thread up without really thinking about it first. I'm just a simple fella who's never done the dog transport/money order/money gram thing before so I jumped the gun a little being scared of a possible scam after some of the things I've read on here in the past. Asking the questions was ok but I probably didn't need to post his name up the way I did because looking back at it people may automatically assume the worst about him just because I asked.

So Marcus, I wanna apologize to you and say I look forward to talking to you some more in the future and if you ever need a favor up this way just ask. I'm not afraid to apologize and say I screwed up and in this case I sure think I could have gone about it a little differently.

And once you get a chance to really get Belle started and going keep in touch and let me know how she does...............I may want to get a pup from her someday. ;)

Anyway, Marcus should have his pup shortly after this weekend once I meet up with Dave and I'm sure she'll be happy to be out of the single digit temps for a while.   And Marcus, I'll see about maybe giving you a call later today after we get done running dogs.
