I have seen several this hunting season here in north carolina. I think this is one of the coldest winters we have had in a long time and I have gotten ticks off of the dogs and myself. I'm not the only one either, my hunting buddies have gotten ticks off of them also.

Took a pup out of running pen in Keeling Va back at the end of Jan found a tick in her ear. Caught some rabbits and turned on loose in front of some pups thay ran it and ending up killing it and seen 2 fleas on it thought it would still be too cold for either of those pesty little creatures but I guess not and that was in western NC where we still have snow on the ground.

I found a tick on a couple of my dogs in January. Haven't seen any more. I often find fleas on the rabbits but it is usually
rabbits in just certain areas. That warm fur is how a flea makes it through the winter cold. In certain areas where I have
killed rabbits and put them in my hunting coat I will pick them up and the fleas will jump off the rabbit and onto my hand.
They will be really bad on some rabbits.

Haven't seen any myself, but know a guy that got some off a dog 2 weeks ago, temp about 15. We got a couple off a deer back in December. They were crawling near his shoulder. Anyone else killed a pregnant rabbit yet? I like the longer rabbit season but there are bred rabbits already and I hate to see them killed.
Also, I don't know if any of yall belong to the Virginia Hunting Dog Alliance, but they helped kill a bill I supported. It was to allow hunting on Sundays in Va. Don't know what yall think of hunting on Sunday, but I just withdrew my support of VHDA. Just wanted everyone to be aware.

That's good unless you work 6 days a week and Sunday is your only day off. They actually said it was about 50/50 on people that wanted Sunday hunting. Maybe I just need a new job lol

if thats the only day you can run dogs. looked at your site and looks like you trial and hunt more than just sunday, if not you got to run dogs more than that anyways. or run them at night. do something but no sunday hunting. but if you want to sale your dogs especially that northway female call me.LOL
