this thread will be long and you will here everyones side on it. i have learned along time ago breed and run what u like because we are all different and what we like is different. So with that said. breed what you like, its you paying for there food, vet bills, and you that deals with the up's and down's of owning, running hounds. Who cares who are what is the best and newest thing. The bottom line is this can they get the job done and if they can enjoy them because the good ones are never here long enough.JMO have fun.

Quite often it is not necesarily who the best stud is but what the best cross is.When breeding we should all be striving to identify what I call a "nick" cross. That is a cross where everything seems to fall into place everytime the cross is made. All studs are not compatible with every female that is brought to them. Some produce better with females bred a certain way or from a specific family line.
Some studs seem to produce good pups no matter who they are bred to and these are the ones that I call PREPOTENT and believe me they are few and far between. We've all heard the comment"you can breed him to a collie and he'd produce rabbit dawgs".If that is the case you'd better use him,use him and use him some more. The reality is that some studs will produce excellant results from certain females and so so from others.
Concentrate on all the parameters of the cross you are making rather than just the stud.

IFC Greenwells Reggie is the Better Beagling sire of the year for 2010.Is the top Mid West Derby sire for 2008,2009 and 2010 he is also all age sire of the year in the Mid West for 2009 and 2010 and as of right now has triple the points of the second place sire for 2011.He has twice as many points needed to be in the ARHA hall of fame for reproducer and I will have the paper work to have him inducted at next years world hunt.If you breed a QUALITY bitch to him he wont disappoint

271rockridge , How many times has Reggie been bred? It is hard to know if he is producing or not if you don't know how many pups he has on the ground. Thanks

IMHO I would have to say hands down IFC Greenbay Shooter.
When you calculate the number of times he has been bred
to what he has produced. You don't see too many dogs
out of him for sale, and when you do they sell pretty fast.
If a dog has been breed to a large number of females, it is
hard to say if they are really reproducing because you have
the numbers. I would say he is prepotent for his traits, as
most of the dogs you see out of him usually look like him
and care his characteristics.

Now i dont keep up with what dog throws how many champs and how many POS... Some dogs are bread 2 to 3 times more then others and who know's what they are breeding too????????????

Reggie, Junie, Shooter, Jasper..........Any of them have and will produced winners, which one is better is always up for debate.
I dont care who u bred to. If you dont have a quality female your chances are slim in getting a winner out of any liter.

Now with that said I would pick TALK ABOUT BLUE JASPER. That joker is built like a bull and looks are 2nd to none in my opinion.

My only question to you all is why are you using titles in front of dog's names to determine if he is a producer or not?Are you saying everyone that breeds to Reggie,Junie,Jasper, etc. are all field trialers i seriously doubt it.Travis Taylor

P.S My vote is Reggie.

I think we may be getting away from the Question.

He runs LITTLE PACK. He wants to know what dog is a proven reproducing stud , TAKING NUMBER OF BREEDINGS INTO CONSIDERATION. Producing Champions and Grands.

With some of the studs mentioned ...I feel we are getting away from the amount of breedings Verses PRODUCED Champions and Grands.

Reggie has been bred 50,000 times with 750,000 pups on the ground. :D (Not the exact amount but you get the idea) He been bred ALOT . Nothing wrong with that, he's a fine stud dog. Producing Champions and Grands but Reggie would be hard to consider , given the Amount of offspring he has.

Jasper has been bred alot also. Not as much as Reggie but many , many offspring.

Shooter has produced some very nice dogs but more of his offspring seem to be in AKC TRIALS Verses Little Pack. I don't recall seeing many Grands and Champs in Little Pack in the trial results section off Shooter.

Junie has less offspring than Reggie or Jasper. I'm starting to see some of his pups Championing out.

These studs have ALL produced well but answering the question of Offspring Verses Grands and Champions , It's going to be Very hard to come up with a stud that been bred as few times as Roll on Buddy and have the number of Champions and Grands he's produced.JMO

If Anyone can give a stud alive today with better percentage number's of Grands and Champion's Per Litter....I want to hear about it.

If he's still alive?

I'd have to say "Cruises Jim Dandy"

I think he has produced over 60 PP champs.
