Try contacting the Red Drum bait shop in Buxton. They are just south of Oregon Inlet. We're heading there on the 11th for a week also.

Different things (fish) run different times of the year. You will have to ask someone that is local that but the blue was running the time we were fishing. Good luck again and hope to hear about all that you caught.

We went and fished off "the little bridge" before you get to nags head. There were good flounder in there. The best fishing we did was off from Oregon Inlet Bridge. The trout were running and we used chartreuse grubs about 5" long, 2 on the line at a time about 3 foot apart. At night we took a generator and dropped lights down near the water. The bait fish (we called them glass minnows) came in and the blues and trout came in as well. We caught fish until we were tired of catching fish and quit. This was in October though, so I am not sure about now. TAKE PLENTY OF MOSQUITO REPELLENT!!!

Teaches Lair Marina in Hatteras Village has charters if you are going that far south.
They also have a web site, not sure of the web address but you can google it.

Been fishing there for 15 plus years now. great fishing , but this time of year is tuff to find them.if you go south into hatteras look up capt randy turner. He's in teaches lair. one of the best times i ever had there we caught 10 white marlin, they only get upto 50-60 lbs, not as big as the big marlins more along the lines of sail fish. it was a blast!!! good luck, we'll be there is 43 days!! cant wait

Anyone have any recent fishing reports?? We just back after spending a week on the island. Fishing was slow to say the least. Surf fishing was down from all reports, with the big blues moving out. We spent most of our time fishing from the Oregon bridge catwalk, Flounder were spotty but we managed to catch a few keepers, A few croakers, 1blue and alot of skates. We plan on returning back in October hoping the fishing will be better.
Had a great time!!!!!!!!!
