ALBON --sulfadimethoxine??

Postby Missouri Beagler 5000 » Thu Jul 07, 2011 6:08 pm
My new pup had/has (just stopped today) bloody diarrhea and super loose stool for a good week and a half and he was wormed good and is utd on his shots (7-ways) at first I thought it was his feed but then I figured it was probably coccidiosis...

Anyways my dad gave me this albon and it seemed to clear it up and its uses on dogs for bacterial infections seems to be WAY better than pen/amox icillin family of drugs...

my problem: I WANT SOME ON HAND!!

100.00 for a 125mg bottle with the dose instructions on the side of bottle from the vet..
found same drug for cattle and chickens in a GALLON for 40 bucks!!!!

Does anybody use this or know the conversion dosage.. this antibiotic is fantastic...

Hook- thats what I was thinking but since the ALBON from the vet is a 5 percent solution and that dosage is:

weight first dose next doses
5 lb (2.2 kg) 1/2 tsp (2 1/2 mL/cc) 1/4 tsp (1 1/4 mL)

Shouldn't the dose be for the 12 percent animal solution be

weight first dose next doses
5lb 1.20ml/cc .75ml/cc

or am I getting something confused.. I know the drug is VERY VERY VERY safe but I like to get it very very right just because I am anal about these things...

You can buy it here for about the same price, 5% Oral is all about a beagle's kidneys and liver need to handle. But I like the tablets better... http://www.vetrxdirect.com/product/view ... oduct-tabs
