we did not completly figer it out to right at the end.
they guy was stalking us all mornin. i knew someting was odd and each time i got that
strange gut feeling i would work the dogs closer to me and in my view.
and i know for a fact he tried to steal the dog box.
i heard him try to call the dogs over .
then i started calling them by name and he jumped in his truck and took off.

I would have been standing right beside him asking him what the deal was. Had that happen before, seemed to change there intentions real quick. Thankfully no losses for you Steve!!

Owl,

Ive caught guys trying to steal my dogs twice. One time I was running at night with 8 dogs in our pack and caught the guy with 3 of them in his dog box, tracking collars off with magnets in them. Im proud of myself for not hitting a 70 year old man in the throat.

The second time the man trying to steal my dogs was in his late 70's early 80's.

You can't imagine how troubling it was for me to process in my mind senior citizens trying to steal my dogs. I've always had great admiration for my grandpa's and they taught me much of what I know about dogs. I also had an octogenarian friend that taught me much about dogs. It may sound rediculous, but I wish the guys trying to steal my dogs would have been younger guys.

Consider yourself fortunate not to lose any of them and learn from your experience.

Have had this happen to us before. they waited to findout where my dad kept his dogs, and came back when no one was home and helped themselves to whatever dogs they wanted. that was years ago and i still see red in my dads eyes when someone mentions anything about a dog being stolen :mad2: its sad but this is obviously something that happens all the time, and a dog theif is about as low as you can get

If someone calls me about a dog, I always meet then at a designated location. I don't want them to see my dogs for the reasons you mentioned and it lessons the chance of bringing in a disease.

thanks jim, first we thought it was a conservation worker. we seen them last time we was there.
and its a long story.
but me being the "Give everyone the benifit of the doubt." person that i am.
plus you dont hear of this stuff around here so much.
but next time we will go in a different truck. maybe set out a deer cam by the truck.
and soon as i hear that truck . i will go see what he wants.
i am not hard to find. but live a hour from where we was.
i think he is prolly a local. thinking he was goning to snatch some good dogs.
they was doing a fine job on the heavy frost.
i am calling my CA to report it. maybe it has happen to someone eles.

Yes, mybeagles
i am blessed not to of lost them and i did learn a valuable lesson.
the pisser is, that it is a really sweet spot. now when we go there we will be on high alert.

I would go back to the spot and have someone take the dogs in the brush and I would hide where I could watch the truck!!

I agree with JUMPNRUN, human culls:) im a firm believer in natural selection, if someone is dumb enough to try an steal my dogs then they are dumb enough to catch some led.
