Silence is golden

Post by Jack »

Yesterday I placed a Barker Breaker on my dog pen fence. My yard dog had gotten to where she was fighting the Beagles thru the fence at night, wakeing us. The yard dog is a fixture that must stay here. _Grand kids_ She is collar wise. I invested in a Barker Breaker, thinking this is a waste of money. Wrong, this thing does work. I put some young dogs to gether and while rough houseing they would bark and the thing would go off and they learned to play with out barking. Last night my yard dog stayed on the porch.

Jack, explain what this thing is. Is it an alarm type thing that is sound activated? Where does a person get one? I've been living under a rock here.

Must be a high frequency tone, that only dog can hear, that hurts their ears and stops barking. What a great idea, glad to hear it works. Where to get & how much? We have choir practice here too often also...lol...Patch

Hi Jack,
My neighbor had some kind of correction lazer work done on his eyes. Has wore glasses for everything for as long as I've known him, now, he only needs them to read his Bible.
Hope yours does well for you.
My Grandmother went blind, was in fair health otherwise. Many times she told me, "if I could only see again". It broke my heart to watch her feel her great-grandbabies faces and give them kisses.
We take so many things for granted...Best of luck to you...Patch

I had a problem with a complaining neighbor who really lives a few houses
up from me.The ones closet on either side both said they never bothered them but this guy came from the city and wants to make the country like the city.Anyway I've had the police out, letters from lawyers, visites from the zoning commity that were told I was operationing a boarding kennel
and anything elese you could think of.So I bought one of these high tone devices just trying to get along and it worked for a while but the dogs get
used to it after awhile. Now thats me findings so go from there! The guy that is complaining has never come to me like a man would do and after
the letter from the lawyer I went to the sheriff and he told me not to do anything that I was in the county which has no noise laws to speak of and by do something was like admitting a problem was presant. So I took it down and just file all the junk mail I get from these silly people.

I can't imagine why someone would want to silence that music! I even try a few times a week to get mine started.

Hey Jumpdog, it sounds like you live by me. I have one nieghbor and thats just the way they are. Too much time on their hands. They need their nose in everybodies bussiness. They have called the animal shelter to complain about my dogs running loose ect which never happens. After about the third time they came out I was on a first name basis with them. I asked if there was anyway to file charges for them filing a false report. I have not heard another word from them.

Yup I think most of us have neighbor like that one. I have a Dentist for a neighbor and he dont bother me but his wife is a royal pain... One day while building my new concrete kennel and had the dog in the Temp. Kennel they dug out and ran loose all day. Had a nice note on my porch. Then a few days later they dug out again and killed a neighbors rooster that would aggrivate the crap out of my dogs by staying like 2 foot from the fence or jump up on the fence so when they got out it was on and the rooster didnt win. Had another good note saying that I need to keep my dogs put up. So I had to make a trip up the hill. Asked them if they had a problem with me having my dogs and they said no but when they get out they got in my flower bed and killed that chicken and that I should be keeping them put up. I said well have you ever know me to just let my dogs run loose?? They said no. I said can you not see that Im building a new kennel and have them in that temporay kennel? They said yeah we see your building something. I said ok well Im sorry about my dogs getting out but lemme tell ya a few things about your CAT... Ohh they didnt like that. Its alright for them to let there cat run loose and do as it pleases even caught he dang thing in my garage one day. So after I told them about my compaints on there cat I said Im not wanting to get in to a fight over this stuff we both love our animals so let just get along. After that havnt had a problem out of em.

I have a bark collar that I paid about $25 at W--M---. I swap it around a couple of hounds every few days, no problems. I had a hound once that was so stupid that he wouldn't shut up when it started shocking him. He kept squalling until I tried to get it off him. Fool then proceeded to eat me up. Sold him cheap. I guess they only work on hounds with more than a pea for a brain.

Well I am lucky cause I don't have no neighbors but if a dog come on my place & was killing chickens he would be shot on the spot & I would expect anyone else to do the same if it was my dog. A dog running cattle or kiling chickens in my part of the world would not see the next sunrise.
My dogs is generally pretty quiet because I don't put up with that useless barking, I take my belt to them & that teaches them pretty quick to stay quiet. If you boys would keep them run down they wouldn't be so full of pee & vinegar & would lay around resting instead of climbing the wall. lol
