John Monkman / Awful Bawlin

Post by Shady Grove Beagles »

Just saw on the Better Beagling board about 20 minutes ago a posting from a Canadian beagler that said Monk had passed away but he did not know details.
If this is true I hate to hear it and the beagling world has lost a true houndsman and breeder of top hounds.
Any info.?

Dana sadly yes John passed away in Nova Scotia. I was at the same trial running in the big males Johnny`s hound won the trial. I shook his hand and wished him the best as he was leaving for NewFoundland and I was heading back to Halifax. Johnny was a true friend and all who new him will miss him dearly. RIP John

I only knew Mr. Monkman from phone calls he was very wise when it came to beagleing and would always try steering you in the right direction he will truly be missed. What he has done for beagleing will never be forgotten... RIP John

The beagling community has lost a great man. I talk to John many times and admired everything about him. My kennel runs deep with his bloodline as he knew what it took to win. I will never forget all the knowledge he sent my way.
R.I.P. John and hopefully we'll run together one day!

I heard about Monk this morning and was hoping it was a hoax.
I spoke to John about a month ago always a pleasure to speak to.
He is definitely a true Legend in the Beagle World, on both sides of the border.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed.

RIP Monk
