Son's Christmas Pups

Post by SMITTY1233 »

I got these two pups out of a litter from my male Smith Bros Lil Gunner boy bred to a hunting bitch out of JR's Top gun Tyke. The gentlemen and has wife bred to my male with the understanding I would get a pick out of the litter. Upon them being ready my in-laws wanted a pup as well. The owner of the female made us a great deal and said we could have them both if we would promise a pup back someday. My son Peyton got the male and my brother in law got the female. They are both staying at my house for the time being and my son was super suprised to open this gift Christmas morning. Our family has kind of transitioned from 25+ years of owning beagles into running coyotes with big hounds in the last 5 years. Now my son is 9 years old and seems to have that same love for rabbit hunting and beagling that I did as a kid. I'm glad its looking like we will have some beagles to keep that tradition alive. Looking forward to getting them started in a few months. I love to start puppies. One of my favorite parts of owning beagles or any dogs. My son named his pup PJ's Copper Boy.

How you been Ken?

My neighbor just bred a litter to his Chilli dog who is out of Tyke. Someday there could be a potential breeding with one of these pups to one of those. Have to wait and see how they all turn out.

Kris,
Been doing real good now that I'm retired. Don't seem to have much more free time though but I guess spending nearly every day deer hunting thru gun and muzzle loader season was more free time. Sure some nice looking pups and you know the blood line is what I like. Hope they pan out for you and I'll be interested in seeing how they progress.

I will keep you informed. I haven't ever really had this blood in the kennel before. I'm pretty excited and I know they will have the chance to make rabbit dogs. My son is really excited. Glad to hear your doing good and now retired. Hoping you get out to run the hounds soon... Take care
