KY guys make sure your legal!
We went hunting today and for the first time ever, I was checking d by a game officer on private land. One of the fellas in our group did not have a plug in his gun so a nice $200 fine ensued. Not trying to say that this member was not wrong, just saying that everybody might want to check their equipment and state laws to make sure that we're all legal. They were nice guys, and told us that they could confiscate the fire arm for such an act. Again, not a soap box session, just a reminder to everyone to check your equipment

I have a question if you hunt with a 410 judge what is the law sense you cant plug the two holes; and in ky. you are only allowed 3 shells in a shotgun.
Re: KY guys make sure your legal!
In Missouri you are suppose to have them blocked with dummy load's or plastic caps of some sort.
so after readind his post it would be a safe guess it is the same in KY.
something as easy as cutting off the brass of a spent shell and dabbing some safety orange paint on the end would work just as well.

My benelli has a plug and will only hold three 3 1/2" shells but it will hold four 2 3/4" shells. What do you do in that case?

The game warden told me I couldn't hunt with a judge, because it couldn't be plugged. I called before I made the investment. Hopefully they will change the law on them soon so that we can hunt with them here.

be careful with that owlcreek. Its still against the law. The plug must not be removable and with a judge it is. With a shotgun the plug can not be removed with out disassembly of the firearm. in other words it must be a fixed plug. with a judge it is not.Owl Creek wrote:In Missouri you are suppose to have them blocked with dummy load's or plastic caps of some sort.

It went very well. Matter of fact my five month old puppy was missing for about thirty minutes, when I heard a strange dog barking in the pack. I started looking and saw this little pup with nose on the ground, giving mouth and happy as a clam. That was the best part, the bad is my old male dog is at the vet with something causing him to vomit every time he eats or drinks. Very dehydrated and lethargic. Still a good day! We killed four in six inches of melting snow.lebro wrote:thanks for the heads up, dont assume a gun is plugged check it. how did the hunt go otherwise.

I made one for my buddies gun with a piece of small water hose four years ago and he still has it in his gun today and I have also made a plug with a piece of tree limb while out hunting for another hunting buddy of mine.mike carder wrote:Plug, I used a piece dowel rod. Works great.
