I watched this video on youtube so I tried it yesterday & it really worked I had to squeeze & push hard but it was fast & clean way to gut a rabbit anyone else tried this here is a link to the youtube video .

works great as long as the rabbit isn't shot poorly if u know what I mean if it is shot poorly you have a nasty mess

Exactly the way I have done it since a kid. Of course gut and butt shot rabbits are a mess but they are anyway!

yeah been doing it this way for years, works great, but like Warddog said, gut shot ones are nasty, lol !!

I alway cut and gut as soon as I shoot them, I figure they also cool down quicker. Plus what the others said about the gut shots. I would think its hard to know for sure without looking inside, if their gutshot.

If you think that one's cool watch this one. I've been doing mine this way for the last couple of years and it works great once you get the hang of it.

Not for me using a shotgun. Buckshot in the gut would make a mess. This fellow probably used his ferret to get most of those rabbits and a air rifle for the rest. This is in the UK remember. Their rabbits live underground and hole-up quick, I seen some and they are big.

Bunnyblaster that is pretty cool I did not see him cut the slit in the middle of the rabbit I am going to try it .

I use that method Bunnyblaster. It works slick once you get the hang of it.

Love this method no blood in the pouch. Spruce ridge tought me this on the island about 5 years ago

I've been using the Tony Eyers way that bunnyblaster posted. It's the cats meeeeoooowww!!!.....DH

No slit to cut........just poke your finger through the belly skin right where it meets the groin area. If you do it right the fur will whipe it all clean as you pull and the slight twist is what snaps the neck off to remove the head. Make sure to squeeze tight enough to rip the ribs off as you pull down. I carry a plastic grocery bag in my game pouch to put them in and then just cut off the feet, quarter them up and give em a rinse after I get home. FYI, you will probably struggle a little and mess up the first one or 2........or at least I did. And do it right away, don't wait because as they stiffen up even just 10-15 minutes later it gets much harder to do. As soon as my dogs go back to hunting I set down my gun and clean the rabbit. It takes a little arm strength to get it done but I'm a little guy so if I can do it then so can most guys.

This is how I do it now after john-pa showed me a few times in the field. Yes, prepare to have the gut sack explode back through the first few times, but once you get it down, it's slick as can be. In my opinion the meat tastes better doing it this way to. Even if you gut shoot them, this seems to take all of the garbage off with the hide, a quick rinse and it's ready to go.
