The best way is to find some trials in your area & go watch some dogs run. Where are you located at?

also, are your dogs registered with AKC, NKC, UKC ? There are a few different formats in each registry. Each registry has a website where you can find downloadable rule books.

What are the bloodlines you are running? That will help us guide you in the right direction.

Sounds like Little Pack or Akc Midwest to me. We have several little pack clubs in the very southern part of Va. if you would like to come join us. You can go to the NKC/Arha website and click on little pack for dates and times. Look for Saltville, Wytheville, Tazewell hunts. they will be the closest for you.

Arha Big Pack Hunts normally have faster speed dogs, but all types of dogs run in them. They judge the dogs in categories of hunting, trailing, speed & drive, and endurance(old fox hunters rules) to get HGA. The hunt next weekend is a two day and is the only hunt where dogs due not have to be registered unless you place and want the points. All dogs will be cast at one time and run for four hours. All the proceeds for the hunt goes to the Ronald McDonald house.

Yes, all the dogs are cast a one time, There are numerous judges, You can use tracking and shocking collars to stop off game races.
