Why don't people use their real name on these internet forums, instead of some weird alias that doesn't mean anything to anybody but the person using it.

If I have anything to say or sale, I don't mind people knowing who I am. Seems to me if everyone would do it, it would make things more open and honest and might cut down on some of the whining and crying you see on here.

Just my two cents worth.

Answer the internet, I do not want every tom dick and harry knowing about my hounds and guns etc., might keep a thief busy if he had all that information. I have nothing to hide would be willing to give info through PM or other means if it would make a difference.

You never know the character of folks you are talking to on the internet. Once there was a discussion on this board about a once popular line of dogs. I had owned several dogs from that line. I didn't want to talk publicly about some of the experiences so I sent the guy a Private Message. That guy posted the PM just so he could win an arguement.

what about all these guys lately that cry and whine about people who cry and whine lol

When I first got on these forums they asked for something other than your real name. Once I used it one place I just used it everywhere so I wouldn't forget who I am. Orginally a cofidentiality issue(actually still is).

Some are cowards they want to reply about something without being known or some want to criticize or bash or start sh-t thinking they wont be recognized .Just sayin .

Same reasons that others have listed. Privacy issues, criminals stuff like that. I will say the negative of not posting your name is you can be called out as someone you're not to. I was accused of breeding and selling grade dogs as papered dogs on here by a guy I didnt know. Never registered a beagle in my life? Without your name people can make up what they want about you. Hell Kenny #*@(#($ sent me a pm that a friend of his said I had a half beagle registered with the AKC ? I'm not gona put his last name on here and embarass him. Pretty funny is what it was but for those who take papers and lineage seriously that would really pee them off so there are also benefits to having your real name posted. I personally dont believe anyone told Kenny that I think he's just a loser looking for attention but there is a negative to going with a codename.

There is some of that as well.

If one does post a name who's to know if it is their real name.
