Off the ground pen

Have any of you ever built a platform with slots in it and set a chain link pen on it? If so how did it work out for you?

Yes, several,

They hold up well, but can hold odor and worms in the wood. I used treated lumber and built platforms. I still have one with a double kennel on it. 10x10 divided into 2 5x10 runs. Good for 2 hounds. I built a nice roof on it and it does work very well.

If I had it to do over I would use composite decking, that would be nicer. JMO.

JMO.

I thought the composite decking would be great too so when it came time to replace the deck on my Seneca kennels I went with composite.....the stuff is very hard to keep clean if a dog does get some crap on it you're going to be cussing the stuff. I did one first and tried it.....I left the other one alone and kept the pressure treated on it, seemed to be a bit nicer to me for keeping clean. In the summer it's not a problem because I pressure wash the kennels at least once a week anyway but in the winter that's not an option so a surface that doesn't hold much is good.

I have these, on one the box was rough and I swapped it out with a K-9 Dog Den II and I replaced the little deck with a larger composite deck. I also replaced the galvanized pans with aluminum

Heres mine. The first and 2nd kennel have lobster wire plastic coated wire flooring. It is the best and will out last a few generations of dogs. The 3rd link is a video of a litter I had a few years ago and in the video you can see all three runs. The kennel that the pups are in is a welping pen and has composite plastic flooring. It is the worst piece of crap, stay a way from it. The dogs crap on it and it is very hard to clean ...deerhost
