Any of y'all shooting turkeys?

Post by Briarhoppers »

I was able to get great video footage of an awesome hunt in middle TN! The field was full of birds to include 9 Toms. I had 3 Toms hang-up just out of range and after about a 10 min. stand-off they finally commit and came in nicely!

took off all week in ohio to hunt. monday morning i dropped a 23lb 1 1/4 in spurs, cant tell you how big the beard was bc i shot it off.. 15 yards with a 3.5in turkey load will do some damage lol.. thursday i called in a 22lb 11.5in beard and 1 1/2in spurs to my cousin that smoked him at 40 yards.. i took pics of that one just havent loaded them on photobucket yet.. all in all it was a nice week of vacation. turkey hunted in the mornings and picked mushrooms and ran dogs in the afternoons!!!

Dont know how to score him but he was 23 pounds, 10 in beard, and 1 1/8" spurs. Solid 3 1/2 yr old bird.

That would be a NWTF Score of 65.5. Spurs x 10 + Beard x 2 + Weight = Total Score.
Congrats,

That's a heck of a non-typ gobbler! I've shot one w/ 5 beards that looked just about like that a few years back... also have shot a couple w/ 2 beards. Its pretty rare to shoot a bird w/ more than one beard!
