I have had consistent success with the Spur line and Kingswood Trex lines. Some where better jumpdogs than others, but all consistently hit the briars hard.

Contact jim Stinnett. He has an excellent male that is out of some real good jump dog stock. This was back a few years but ask guys that have been around 10-12 years. I had a male called Rock Bottom Ben. He would consistanly score jumps in every hunt. Thats not counting what he done in front of a gun. NO BULL had 250 rabbits shot over him one season. His decendants have all had great jump dog ability. Most are Champion and Grands by now.

I LIKE THE PATCH HOUNDS. NONE HUNT HARDER, AND THEY COVER ALOT OF GROUND. JACK PALMER,DON MANN,AND DENNIS GOAD IN OKLAHOMA HAVE A FINE BUNCH OF HOUNDS.

If you are wanting PP dogs I would go with Matt Glomski's Dreamboat or Hitman I have a pup out of Hitman and he'll hunt all day if ya let him.

The Weir creek strain is as old as the hills and has allways been noted for its hunt and search.

There is a big difference in a dog that hunts and or searches real hard and a jump dog.

A jump dog classification has nothing to do with its hunt ability, but ONLY how it out jumps whole packs it hunts with everytime out.

Which are you looking for?

John,
I agree with you, except that jump dogs can't be bred, they are a fluke! Hard hunting can be bred. For my 2 cents, Ranger Dan produced very hard hunting dogs.

Guys, there is a BIG difference in a Jump dog and a hard hunter. A real good jump dog knows where to look, how to use the wind, and hunts whith its head up using its eyes most of the time looking for the jump out in front of them. The hard hunters, hunt with their head down going from briar patch to briar patch and most are looking (sniffing) for a track to strike.

Alabama John, Rock Bottom and Hatteras bob all hit the nail on the head. A jump dog may not be the hardest hunting dog but it will out jump other dogs almost everytime out. I have a northway female that is loaded with hunt but rarely ever gets a jump. I have 2 others that have good hunt, but jump 90% of the rabbits. They just know where they are. I don't think it is something that it is bred, I think it is just a fluke. I used to hunt with a grade dog by the name of Slim Jim as a young boy and he was the laziest hunting dog you ever saw, but he would jump every rabbit in the woods. He would walk by 5 briar patches and then stop on a dime at one, He would stick his head in one side and the rabbit would come out of the other side. He didn't waste any energy. I would take a dozen just like that.(LOL)
