What does everyone use to get rid of tape worms? I have been using safe guard and strongid paste but not sure that it is working for tapes or not.

Safeguard for horses(they make it for dogs now). The trick is to give it a inch long strip on your finger three days in a row. Never had any problems with tapes.

Droncit is what I use for tapes but Drontal plus is excellent too. The Drontal plus is an all wormer getting everything but heart worm prevenitive. It is over $300.00 for $100.00 pills through petshed when ordered in bulk.
The Droncit is more cost effective for me but is only good for tapes. I will usually get someone to go in on 100 pills with me. It breakes down to about $80.00 a peice which is less than $2.00 a pill. Also, the Australian Droncit is good for 10 kg or 22 lbs so you really don't use as much. It is amazing at how good the dogs feel after they get a droncit pill.
LaMarr Rhoades,
You can check with Jefferspet.com for the safeguard for dogs. I use the safeguard for horses and have had good results from it for years. It is cheaper and has the same active ingredient Fenbendazol which is also the same active ingredient of Panacure.
I use Safeguard and Ivomect once a month and the Droncit as needed for tapes. I have not been successful in the Safeguard alone keeping my hounds tape free. The Droncit gets seven different types of tapes where there are only three types in the US and two types in the South East.
Hope this helps.

I also have had poor luck with Safegaurd for horses at removing tape. Cleans everything else out but not the tape. I thought I wasn't giving them enough but may have to try the Droncit.

I switched to Drontal plus, you can get It at
http://www.petshed.com/ $17.95 for 5 pills, each pill will worm up to 22 pounds and It gets all worms except Heart worms. It says you only have to give It once every Three months.I ordered some a couple of weeks ago,and got It one week later.I was using Intercepter, but It is cheaper going with Drontal.

What about the "Canine AllWormer".....It seems to be a generic form of Drontal. Anyone used it?? As high as Drontal is, any savings would help as long as it works just as good.
