Thanks Guys, guess I thought I would need to go furthur south than Tennessee. I have heard Mississippi has great running. Never ran a swamper and thought I would give it a try. I do enjoy running hare and if swampers are anything like them then I want to give it a try. Thinking February I may avoid those snakes. LOL!!!!

Over the past 18 years I've gone out to west Tn. to hunt swampers. We've had both good trips out there when we really got into some good running and years where they came hard and the jumps were few and far between.A lot ot it depends on where the water is at when you go and can really influence your hunt.In a "dry " winter I've found the swampers more concentrated and you can get around to the dogs .I've gone out during a "wet" winter and found the slews out of their banks and the bottoms completely flooded making it impossible to get around good and the dogs can hardly run for swimming water.Often this will push the rabbits out to higher ground and if you can find them you can have some good running.
I hunted down in the Mississippi Delta and had some real good running on some management lands.Same deal though. These are flat bottom lands and can flood easily making some years harder to hunt places than others.

Sounds like a good time. I remember my grandpa talking about running them back in the 50s and 60s.

Thanks All, Gonna go somewhere just dont know where. LOL.
Littlewoody - Sundown Willie Brown (Green Bay Butkus X Sundown Ellie Mae - Mae is tripled up Mark V's Ace in the Hole) is looking really good. Ran with some AKC CH and some pretty tough hounds on hare in Maine in October and he is showing that he can hang with the best of them. Very powerfull hound that a pack wont rattle. Found that the harder you run him the better he gets. Might try some Large Pack in the future. Donny took him to 1 UKC hunt and he won the hunt. He is a very smart easy handling hound that will tell on the pack for off game. I like him so much that we just made the cross with Butkus and Mae's littermate sister. Pups expected in about a month.
