Hound heater
Best thing since slice bread. Had beagles all my life, always had well built kennel/dog house. After one late winter hunt, I was wet, cold, couldnt get warm until nice hot shower, dry clothes etc. ,my wife say happy you are nice and warm now, but how about the dogs that are in the kennel, wet, cold, it was single degrees? Since then, bought hound heater, set at med, even when zero degree, inside dog house is 50 degrees.
We spend thoysands of dollars on our dogs, (food, gps collars, training collars, time), heater was $94.00. Great product

Re: Hound heater
Sounds like a good idea. I may have to invest in one or two for my hounds.

Gene.
Good post.
A agree with keeping dogs warm.
I have a plug in thermostat set in my kennels at 50 deg
Once it drops below that is kicks on and the electric heater goes on, I have the oil filled radiator type.
It works well and I use for Ac in summer.
I set thermostat at 78 and anything higher the Ac kicks on.

Its a couple yrs old, I just googgles hound heater, it takes 5 mins to install.
I plug it in when temps will be low ,set to med, life is great.
My dog kennel runs along the side of my shed, I have dog igloo in out run, and a cut out door into shed where there is a 3ftx4ft dog house ,fully insulated with 2inch insulating boards in between 3/4 inch plywood.
In summer time setup portable a/c unit set at 78 degrees.
Its the least I can do for my best and most reliable hunting buddies.

Re: Hound heater
I have been using the Hound Heater for the past four years and have been very pleased with it, very well made. It has been extremely cold here in MN as of late and it is really nice to know that my dogs house stays between 45 and 55 degrees with the thermostat set at less than half. My dogs hunt hard for me all day long in tough conditions and I figure that I owe to them to have a warm bed and a chance to recover for the next days hunt.

Re: Hound heater
Thank you! We have insulated dog houses built on the inside of our garage. We shut them totally in at night, so usually they're fine, but with this really cold snap we've had in Michigan this week, I've been concerned. I'm going to check them out!

Re: Hound heater
Here are the houses I have been using in the winter the last two years.
I am very happy with these, I can put my hand inside and it is warm just from their body heat.
I fill them with pine shavings and there is no condensation due to the 1.5" to 3" of insulation.
Heaters are available for these houses but not needed, it was -13 today.
I did make a plug for the drain hole in the floor.
My kennels are outside on concrete with a tin roof over them.
