Usually, once I get out there, I can find a place where the wind aint so bad, when it's 20 mph & under. At 30 mph. not so much.
I'll get out there as early as I can...

Hey Steve, the only issue I have with a heavy wind is locating the dogs if you are on a big property, esp. if you have some young ones. Very easy for them to run a rabbit out of ear shot and then either lose him or he goes another way before circling (if he even does circle). We hunt alot of marsh and most times that rabbit leaves out and wont come back! So you try and head him off but now it's getting harder to hear the hounds, you are jumping over ditches and find out finally when you get to where you can see and think they were now you can't hear them! And guess what? They can't hear you calling them either and it is frustrating! Which is why we hunt hedgerows and thickets if it's blowing a gale!!

Last three times out I've had the same conditions. Running seemed fine, just cold as heck!

Running in the wind is very dangers because I have had tree limes fall around me lots of times, If they would have hit me or my dogs, We might have been in big trouble. Also keeping track of the dogs is a problem all around.
