Man McGuire you sound so wise. It has been proven over and over good dogs can compete in both AKC & ARHA LP not sure why this topic gets rehashed so many times on this board. Look at the facts and the list of dogs that have done it in both. Same dogs in both places period. Find the style of dogs you enjoy running find the format that the dog fits in and promote the dog in that format don't bash other formats just run your dogs. Let's all work together to beat up on all the anti-hunters out there instead of trashing each other.

This is just my opinion of the two formats

All i can say about judges is that their is good n bad honest n crooked
In both formats
More good than bad forsure though
And as long as they r judging it means that i dont have to
So go judges!!

Akc- good
1.i feel that they promote way the more
Sensable rabbit dog .
2. seems to be a more professional group.
3.Seems to always have rabbits and plenty of them at their trials
4.Seem to be more appreciative of there trial members n federations
5.One pack at a time goes to the field so u can always take multiple dogs and dont have to
Worry about finding a handler.
6. Like the fact that there is no time limit
So u dont have to pick the hardest hunting dog to win if u dont have a rabbit in a hr like lil pack does
7.They have a derby class

Lil pack- good
1.Really like the no alcohol no cussing rules
2.judges r picked at the hunt and drawed out n placed with a pack of dogs
3.Lil pack has no tolerance for off game
4.Lil pack has more clubs and more hunts than akc

Akc - bad

1. Ive seen alcohol being drunk at the hunts
2. your dog may not get picked up in the field and and u have to wait
Till all the other dogs go out and then u go back to the clubhouse to find out
If u have made it to the next series and if u didnt make it
Then u have waited around for nothing

Lil pack-bad
1.Limited to 1 hr in the field
2.A dog can win a hunt and never give a bark
3.A dog can jump a rabbit and get out run for a hour and if there is no 15 second break down
Then the dog that controlled the race never gets a point.
4.Field trials are based on alot of luck but lil pack trials are
the most luck based program there is.
6. 15 second check is to long

I like and run both formats
But to me akc is where the big boys play
Ill put it this way.. If i had a dog that run with authority that was a true line running hard hittin track driving hound that can run with out having a big long 15 second lose then id run him akc
And if i had a half way decent to good maybe even great dog that would cause alot of 15 second looses
And really wasnt akc quality and i really wanted to trial him then id run lil pack
If nothing else just because he might get lucky in lil pack and win one
I have seen some absolute powerhouse n lil pack over the years
Ive seen some that have dominated lil pack and could have dominated akc
But was never trialed akc
Then ive seen some powerhouse lil pack dogs that wouldnt last 5 minutes in a akc trial
And also u can take a lil pack world champion to a lil pack club hunt and get beat by a lil turd that can barely run a rabbitrr
Just to much room in lil pack for a average dog to get lucky and beat a good dog out

Im trying to give a good fair honest opinion of the two
But akc is where its at!!!
Ive watched n trialed n both
Neither one is perfect i could give more plus's and downfalls to both formats than i did but
If im serious about a dog he will be trialed akc Midwest
