Is that a typo?
I feed the smaller beagles 16-22 lb range 1 cup in the summer and 1.5 cups in the winter, the larger beagles in the 22-30 lb range 1.5 cups in the summer and 2 cups in the winter. I alternate each day between a scoop of peanut butter on their food and then the next day I put warm water on their food to make beagle soup.

I feed 1-1/2 cups in the morning and 3/4 cup at night. I think--nothing scientific--they sleep better with a little food in their stomach. Since it turned cold, I upped their portions some. My dogs are in the 25-30-pound range and usually run several time a week.

Agree with Brain.
You should be able to easily feel there last two to three ribs, at certain angles I prefer you can see the last 2-3 ribs.
They should have a waist that is visible, a narrowing past the ribs.
I may offend some, but if they look chubby or smooth as I like to say, they are overweight, you are just hurting them in there performance and especially endurance.
Dogs process foods much slower, they operate best around 12 hours after feeding.
My dogs all vary with what they get, but I definitely cannot feed every dog what the bag recommends. JMO.

I am feeding one cup in the morning with about 3 cups of warm water on it and 2 cups in the evening with the same amount of water. When temps get to about 10 and over, I stop the morning feeding. In the summer I feed 1-2 cups dependng on the dog, using the same guideline as Jim Hall.

1 to 3 cups depending on dog, weather and activity level. Sure can't see getting by on half a cup.

Some of my buddies around here say the same thing about how much they feed their hounds. They look like little footballs! You ask them how much they are feeding them and they say "I just feed them a cup in the winter and half a cup in the summer" You get over to their house and their idea of a cup is a big gulp cup from 7-11!!!

6 oz chicken thigh daily ....I add .2 oz of beef or pork fat in winter. Fish or venison substituted for chicken. 24 hour fast if they get too heavy.

depends temps and if ran hard, in winter feed River Run 24 protein- 20% fat few stools too. In summer regular Purina dog chow 21-10 unless you are running Large Pack trials use 27% protein or higher and 20% fat. They need fat to create heat and it will convert it into energy when ran- straight from the veterinarys mouth. My beagles are 13's in summer if to hot not running 1 cup dog chow if looks thin tad more for that dog. In cold weather give 2 cupsof the 20% fat feed each. If going to run the next day 2 1/4 cups night before after hard run or hunt 2 1/2 cups. Then back to the 2. Pups of course need the higher protein.
