Parents. The two parents are the only ones who posess all of the possible traits ,in their DNA , that can be passed onto the pups. Genetics are "cut" in half by each parent. These two halves make a whole ( the pup ).

That's what I would think too :!: If you look on this Board seem like some people like that old Blood and try to get as much as they can in a pup. Just For instance a lot of people like to double up or triple up or more on ( JACK OF ALL TRADE or DINGUS ) or what old blood they like LINE BRED JMO

I suspect than many who are looking for "old Blood" never saw the "old blood dog" in the field. They have just read someone else's hype and believed it. Been there done that. ;)

I know a guy who owns about forty dogs, all based on "old blood" (pedigrees). Many of them he has never seen in the field but he is still advertising pups, for sale, based on "old blood". I started some of his pups.

ken pack, Not sure you are understanding the question. Wanting old blood has nothing to do with the question! No longer just to you but, At any Rate what makes the Grandparents of more influence ? why would it stop there tell me why The Great Grandparents wouldn't be more influence, if you are of that line of thinking. what makes it the Grandparents and what makes it stop there? Why not the Great , Great Grandparents,? Please explain how it starts and how it stops at the Grandparents !

.Generational genetic influence

.........................................25% grandparent
.....................50% parent
...........................................25% grandparent

100% pup

...........................................25% grandparent
....................50% parent
...........................................25% grandparent

Ive raised plenty of pups and they could take after any dog in its pedigree! One could look like its grandpa, have the hunt of its grandma, a mouth like its sire, and speed of its dam. Its full littermate brother might be totally opposite! Who knows until you raise them up and get them running! Keep the best and sell the rest!

it depends... i have seen some studs throw pups that had the running style of their grandpa, and seen some studs that throw pups that were more like them.. the trick and its hard because the only way to figure it out is time.. to figure out whats what and breed accordingly...lol

I just seen pups run like their grand parents. I think they get their looks from their parents!!

I also find it funny that most beaglers when selling talks about grand parents and great grand parents when trying to pass a dog or pup to someone else.
