I have a female that had pups on Oct. 1st 2013 she lost them all. Any idea when her next cycle could be? Is it 6 months from when pups were born or possibly 6 months from when she was breed? FYI she comes in heat regularly every 6 months. Any ideas would be very helpful

Thanks

My vet told me, and others have too, that having puppies might throw their cycle off a month or so. After my litter, either she didn't come in heat again or I missed it. Looking for her cycle this month.

After a female has cycled and is not bred we expect her to cycle again around 6 months later. If we breed a female we expect her to cycle again around 6 months after the pups were born. There are always exceptions, 6 months is the average time between cycles.

My female went from 6 month cycles to 7 month cycles after raising a litter of pups.

I had a female by the name of Riverbottom Spur Donna(FC Northway Spur X FC Colby Hill Donn) that would cycle every 12-14 months. Paul Komorny raised a couple of litters out of her. Never less than 11 pups and raised them all. I got tired of waiting and give her to Donnie Campbell and I'm not sure how many pups he raised out of her.
