running in off season

Post by kellyg »

I was wondering where everyone runs in the off season. Does anyone still run in the wild at this time of the year or in pens?

I used to run in a large pen in the off season. I have found some really good spots near home and do all of my running with the bears, yotes, and other wild game.

I have never ran in a pen no one around here has one but I can say I run over triple in the "off season" in my normal places than during the hunting season.

Our (Michigan) running season closed today until July 8th unless you have a permit. I have one and 80 acres. It's usually too hot to run, except very early, in the summer anyway.

Never in a pen. Rabbits just do not run the same. Dogs will learn more bad habits in a hour than they will learn in a lifetime on the outside. JMHO

Guys around me run in a pen cause they are scared to run on the outside. I have never owned one that was to good to turn out on the outside. Guess they are just luck like that to have one that is to good to turn out on the outside.

I won't run in the rain, or if it's real hot out. Doesn't matter the time of the year.

our training season shuts down from april 1st to june 31st . so if you want to run you have to run in a pen or be an outlaw. loli run in the wild but I just hunt my dogs but if you trial your dogs I can see where running them in the pen could help them.

Run in the wild all year! In the summer when it gets real hot I will either run very early or start about and 1hr or so before dark and run a lil while in the night.
