I hate it so bad I just don't do it.The North wind blows them up against the South fence and in the Spring the South wind blows them up against the North fence. My neighbors think it is a lot of work for me to move them from one fence to the other but like the decoration change from one side to the other. After about ten times of moving back and forth they all seem to disappear until the next year.

I am lucky my neighbors on each side keep theirs raked and the wind keeps resupplying them from my yard! Seriously, I do not rake the wooded areas. The leaf mulch keeps the undergrowth down, hold moisture, and supplies nutrients for the desirable plants, trees, and scrubs. Very environmentally friendly! I do clear the lawn areas. Thumbs up on the leaf blower mentioned earlier and a shredder is GREAT too! The garden mulch comes in handy too. Still, I would rather run my beagles and finish the leaf clearing in March or April. Here is a good excuse: the leaves protect the grass during the winter.

I mow them! My Kabota tractor chops them up enough so that in a week or two they're gone. No kidding! If they are heavy I drive around the trees in circles blowing mulch around the trunk. I don't rake any more.
