Looks like she's built for speed. Are all Patch hounds lemon & white? Dewey Harless has done well in Mid-West trials. I'm not sure of his dogs' breeding though; they were tri-colored.

Back in the day Jay Hershberger ran a big Lemon & White dog named Choir Hill Bones in Little Pack. He was a Hall of Fame & Grand Rabbit Champion. I saw him destroy many a pack of dogs. No one knows what he was out of because he was found in Coshocton around Woodbury when he was a pup but I am sure that the rabbits he made run for their life and the dogs that chased him trying to catch up never knew or cared that no one knew what his breeding was.
The Hughes ran Sangamon Ridge Bernard he was pretty nice as well.

Saw in Better Beagling where Scott Peacock had won a licensed trial in Michigan with a 15" lemon bitch. I'm sure it was Patch breeding. Seems like he used to have a nice 13" lemon bitch several years ago also.

Satsuma kennel name comes from the town he used to live in and started his business in. We also have satsuma oranges down here that may have played a part in it to. Mrs DiAnne is definitely not Chinese lol she is a southern lady with some fire in her if you ever meet her. They are great people and did alot for the sport.

GRCH Skyview Cliff was bye far the fastest hound I ever seen run a rabbit he had extrem hunt and was a very powerful hound that could dominate a pack of dogs and didn't have to cut or cheat to do it he could flat out pull off and leave them!

Judged her once, she destroyed the cast.

I watched Honey in the semi's the year she won the world. Her and dog named Shotgun, or maybe Buckshot, cant remember his name but they sure did put on a show. I know for a fact the judges were winded when the cast was over.

Satsuma is Japanese meaning orange.
Makes me wonder if so, she might have coined the name for his hounds.
Kennel name comes from the name of a town down here in Louisiana.

Ok, thanks for that.
Lots of names seem to come from towns. county's, creeks or rivers.
I just googled satsuma and it came up a Japanese word having to do with orange.
Good to have the story on the named used for Mel's hounds.

Hate to see her go out the way she did Mike. I still remember when you posted about it.
