Male or female , now or in the past. Up until last year I took about a 9 or 10 year break from trialing and would like to know everyone's thoughts of the toughest lemons hounds out there. Should be some interesting reading . Thanks in advance... Joey

I judged the 15" males at Lake Conway, Arkansas several years ago & placed FC Clear Cut Red Bones 2nd. He was really nice; strong, fast, tough hound. I think he was by FC Satsuma Mack. That's where you'll find the best lemons, from Mel Faust's Satsuma line in Louisiana.

Yea Greg , Bones would be a full ( older ) brother to FC JW's lighting . Know Bones
Well, he was out of FC Satsuma Mack x FC greenflats toastie .
Ran against him a good but in Southern large pack. I see L&W hounds winning and placing in BB AKC results and in ARHA but not really sure how they bred or just how good they are. Thanks for your input comment !

Cinnamon Run Honey. She was a 14 inch ball of fire. She won the World Little Pack Hunt in 2009 in the grand class. Although smaller than her competitors, she put a show on for four days beating some powerful hounds. If she ever got away from the rest of the cast, they paid dearly.
BTW she was pure patch.

I liked honey as well as Scott Scosbe's Sandy dog. Two lemon females that could hurt you're feelings quick.

I was the unfortunate victim of some of those Cinnamon Run hounds on more than one occasion. Even though he wasnt exactly my style I liked the Max dog that Crabby had as good as any lemon dog I ever seen run. Lee Cockman in North Carolina has some good ones bred similiar to these.

Would Mel's wife happen to be Japanese?
Satsuma is Japanese meaning orange.
Makes me wonder if so, she might have coined the name for his hounds.

I'm not sure.
Let me word my above statement a little differently because I have not seen many lemons run." Mel Faust's Satsuma line has produced some very nice running lemon & white hounds."

Just an off the wall question, always interesting where some of the line and kennel names come from and what inspired them.
Maybe someone who knows Mel will have the answer.

Beagle Trivia, now that's always been and interesting and informing topic. hummm
