The correct dosage should be 1/10th cc per 10 lbs of body weight.

Depends what your using if for (treatment), the dosage that has been recommended is correct but I have used it as frequently as once a week for several months, to once a month on a constant maintenance basis.

Use ONLY IVOMEC---do not use IVOMEC Plus!!!! The plus stuff has some added ingrediants in it for control of other cattle worms that can harm your dogs.
Myself and most others follow the 1/10 of a cc per 10 lbs. of body weight once a month ratio for the control of heartworm microfilerie.
Easiest method is to get yourself a TB syringe .They are small and the increments are in tenths of cc's or ml's [ 1 cc=1ml ].They are much easier to use/read than the bigger syringes that measure in full cc's.
Draw up the ivermectin using a needle on the end but then I take the needle off and squirt it in the back of the dogs throat.
I've heard of some guys injecting the ivermectin but it is so much easier to squirt in their mouth I don't know why you fool with giving it as a shot?
Dogs don't much like the taste so some folks cut it with propylene glycol [get at your pharmacy ] or have heard some use orange soda or apple juice.
Ivermectin can be used in the control of demodetic mange and then it is given on a daily dose for 30 days usually in conjunction with a mite dip.It also is sometimes prescribed in tough cases of earmites.

I don't use it. Never will. I've had buddies use it for years, and when it started to effect their dogs they stopped. Granted when you nearly kill one that will make you quit. I know a few guys that has killed their own dogs on accident with the stuff before.

I've used it for at least 20 years with no issues.
I have hounds that have been on it their entire lives live to 14 years old, have one right now that will be 12 years old on Jan. 1st.

I buy the 50ml bottle of Ivomec at Fleet Farm, as stated, do NOT use Ivomec Plus.

I use a 1 cc/ml syringe without a needle and squirt it in their mouth.
.1 cc/ml per 10 lbs. of body weight.

I do a 1/4 cc per beagle. I fill the rest of the syringe with water and squirt it down their throat. (I think the water makes it go down easier)

I just squirt the dose on a half slice of bread. Never had a dog turn it down.

Some eat their own crap, they drink water out of stagnant puddles when thirsty, and will eat off a dead carcass found in the middle of the woods, ..... How bad can ivermectin taste? Just squirt it down their throat and be done with it.

I started doing this to a few months ago. Throw it in their food dish and no fighting with them to get it in their mouth! Glad to see another Iowa beagler on here as well Jim. Welcome
