milk production in whelping bitches

ok guys how many of ya'll have heard this a couple of elderly gentlemen that have fox hunted told me about this home remedy. Take ordinary oats cook them dont make oatmeal out of them just boil them till there well cooked put them in a old mason jar and put it in the frig put about half a cup in the bitches food every day for a couple week before she whelps and there after till she weans the pups. i was skeptic myself but i tried it it seemed to work pretty well i could have milked here like a cow

fellas im the only one thats heard of this these gentleman have raised fox hound for around 40 to 50 years

It would provide an extra calorie source for sure, but the cereal grains are low in Calcium and high in Phosphorous so they shouldn't really help milk production other than the nutritional burst. I always use and recommend good quality puppy food for nursing females.

i used milk aid and it works well i thought i was going to have a large problem with my dogs last litter because of its size i used milk aid and she had plenty for all 10
