Garmin Deal!
I'm gonna put this on here, just in case anyone is looking. They had this for their Black Friday sale but it's still on. I'm not sure it can be beaten or matched, and for the price Garmin is asking for the new collars, you'd be a fool to buy just a collar unless you are running an Alpha. Free Shipping too.

Re: Garmin Deal!
looks like they are trying to dump all their d50 combos so they can start carrying the t5 (or whatever they call the collar this week). Is it just me or does it seem like they have been pumping out so many new collars lately that even some tech savvy hunters can't keep up with their changes!

God isn't real, Beer is good and people are crazy, there I fixed it.
Re: Garmin Deal!
I don't trust Garmin for nothing, when they stoop so low as holding up batteries for tritronics.
Good luck keeping up with the next bag of tricks they pull, as long as your pockets are deep you should have no problem.

Re: Garmin Deal!
Not sure what you mean, Garmin released their own line of shock collars after buying up Tri-Tronics and made some improvements too them. Essentially, the old Tri-Tronics went end of life. As with anything technology that goes EOL, they stop producing parts for them. For example, try getting contender parts from S&W once they bought TC....good luck.S.R.Patch wrote:I don't trust Garmin for nothing, when they stoop so low as holding up batteries for tritronics.

It's like trying to buy a new head for your VCR, ain't happenin. To me personally, Garmin getting in the dog world was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Re: Garmin Deal!
I'm not against advancement, but when you buy the customer base tritronics had and then basically kill that base instead of bring it into the fold by fostering the investment people put into it, that's just dumb and greedy.
Everyone is going to need new systems eventually, by serving the customer base you bought, you gain the advantage of prior association and good service, so the market base buys from you. Garmin's way exhibits a "strong arm" tactic, "buy new or else".
Not a smart business model... imho
As far a S&W, "two wrongs don't make a right"...

Re: Garmin Deal!
Until somebody else finally brings a comparable unit to the market they are the best game in town. I bought the Alpha when it first came out and collars for all my dogs, it was money well spent in my opinion.

Re: Garmin Deal!
In my opinion, they are serving the customer base they bought, by releasing superior products than tri-tronics ever would have on it's own.
The last round of training collars TT put out was the G3 I believe, which is what I have. My unit is at least almost 5 years old. That's old. Have a 320 as well that's just about the same age. I'd say by offering trade in programs when our units break down, that's a pretty good job of fostering our investments.

I'm not saying I'm right or your wrong, we all have our own opinions.
But it's rabbit season/ bird season and the owner can't provide batteries to his customers ?... Guess what daddy wants under the Christmas tree?
The new stuff is great if you feel you need all the gadgetry, can figure it out, keep it updated and working.
I only want the $20 batteries, not the $1800 new system. Tho I just heard of a credit card that will give you $200 credit of you spend at least $500 this month, that means only $1600 for a new system.
I have already heard a number of people say, they will not buy a garmin because of this and are buying a different brand or waiting for a comparable competitor's production line to come out.
Someday, we'll probably be able to put a tracking-microchip in the rabbits at the beagle club, have all the hounds outfitted with tracking/shock videocam collars. We will turn the clubhouse into a man-cave with big screen TV's and industrial sized refrigerators and ovens for pizza and beer ... and judge the whole field trial and pick the winners all from the comfort of the sectional recliners complete with cup-holders in the club house...
...Rabbit hunters can mark the intersections of the rabbits travel to kill the most rabbits. Yup, beagling will become a grand sport!
Next month in the New Year, I hear they're coming out with a new system call the Drone Master Max. Full video and maping features included, for a small yearly fee of course...

Re: Garmin Deal!
Age is all relative, dependent upon amount and time of use. imho, 5 yrs is not old, now if you look at my washer and dryer that are 34 yrs old, that's old!Smoke'n Mack wrote:In my opinion, they are serving the customer base they bought, by releasing superior products than tri-tronics ever would have on it's own.

I am not so anxious to jump from the skillet into the fire. We'll see how long these little computers hung around a dogs neck last and what is considered old an outdated....

I called Tesla motors and they're working on getting me some new batteries for the collars.

Re: Garmin Deal!
You're right there, age is relative, depending on what we're talking about. For a human, appliances, cars, etc, 5 years is not old at all. In the computer world, 5 years is a lifetime. Microsoft can't even go a week without releasing updates. I guess I'm "new school" as my old man says. lol.
That's cool that you are going to find some batteries though.

Re: Garmin Deal!
S.R.Patch, once again you are exactly right. I have been a customer for 25 years. I have a three dog Trash Breaker bought new in 2002. Have replaced the batteries in one collar and the transmitter. 12 years old and still going strong and can still get the batteries with no problem. Great product! I have a six dog G-3 Trash Breaker bought in 2011 that I really like a lot. The red collar need a new battery and now I can't find one.
Talked to Garmin/Tri-tronic on 12-09-2014 and was told the new batteries will not ship until after 01-01-2015. Also told there would be not more collars available period. I also have a Beagler and an XL 70 both three dog units. No problem finding batteries for them. All of my collars are fitted with Wildlife 4350 tracking collars. I like this system more than the GPS systems. They are much more reliable than the GPS collars. Change the Battery in each collar once a year and I don't have to worry about it going dead should I leave a dog out over night. I have never had a problem
with this system since I bought it new in 2001.
If Garmin stops making the batteries and parts for these collars I will Boycott every thing they make. I have 15 collars that the batteries are $24.95 a piece for. That's $324.75 for all new batteries.
A new Alpha with 15 collars will cost me $4985.00. All this for a system I don't want or need. Now before anyone tells me about how great the Alpha is, I have friends that have it. All have either had problems with the hand held or the collars. Hopefully Garmin will wake up and realize they need to support the customer base they purchased.
