kennels maybe a bad thing

Post by tree man »

I recently purchased a dog that was housed in a kennel that is scared of everything.. I don't use kennels because people tend not to interact with their dogs in them. Not all but some. The only explanation I can find is kennels are not good for dogs. Whoever gets my dog will be spending lots of hours trying to convince him a hat won't hurt him.. anyone else choose not to use kennels

are you calling (kennels) them little pet taxies, pet crates used for transporting dogs to the vet, or the big outdoor kennels ?

if it's not the big outdoor kennels then what can it be? I got a dog that scared to death of its own shadow you can't move too quick if anything touches him he tucks his tail and runs.

I don't have any inside hunting dogs and you could catch any of the hounds I have ever had, being a stranger or myself. Sometimes some bloodlines are more skiddish than others, sometimes they haven't been messed with much hands on or maybe someone was to hands on. I don't see why a kennel would be any problem to this, doesn't make much sense to me.

when your dog is in the kennel people have a tendency not to open the door to pet them. they are just lazy.I paid $400 for a dog that'll probably end up in the pound because somebody was too lazy to pet him. I've had him 2weeks on a chain he aint get no better

That's not because kennels, sounds like the dog was beaten most of its life.

You obviously didn't do your homework before you bought the dog and what makes you think that if this dog spent it's entire life in a kennel being shy 2 weeks on the end of a chain is going to make it better?

All my Poop eaters are scared of Humans until I tie them out . I dont have the time to pet puppies. Everything out of Honey has a shy side to them and none were ever beaten. Because a dog is shy it doesnt mean it was physically abused. It is hereditary though .

so I pretty much got $400 in a dog that's better off dead because he wouldn't even make a good house pet

Tree man, That is the craziest thing I've ever heard. You got taken period!! Has nothing to do with the kennel. Everyone of my dogs has been raised in a kennel. Never had a shy one. It's either genetics, lack of interaction or abuse. When out to buy a dog research the seller more so then the blood line.....dh
