I received a text from phone number 515-442-5661 in response to an ad I had on the site for a Branko male dog. This fella says his name is Chris. He spoke of how interested he was blah blah blah, and he was sending me a cashiers check. "I want the dog, please give me your address" he says. So stupid me I give it to him. Then he says Im gonna send you $200 extra dollars for the dog hauler. I'll tell you the tracking number as soon as I get it. That struck me wrong so I googled the Phone number. This is what is known as "phishing". Its a way to get personal information. I texted him back and told I know what hes doing and he never responded. I don't know what type of scam they are running other than getting your address and name. but if you see this # beware. My bank also told me a while back that a cashiers check is easy to stop payment. takes 30 days to clear. SO from now on its either cash or wire...

Glad you caught the scam before it went to far!

People have been doing that on craigslist and other classified forums for years. Cash or Paypal face to face hand off only for me.

Update ....

The person just sent me a check for $1200. I was only asking for 300. Check is fake printed from versa check. Saying AMAZON COM. Notice there isn't a dot. Also it's addressed from Maryland. Returned address to California. Obviously he wants me to cash it so he can get my bank info...

Ask him to meet you and you'll bring him the dog he has paid for.
