Herniated disc

Anyone had dog fully recover from herniated disc in there back.

Yes. I took it easy on her for about the next year. Never reocurred & no lasting complications.

Yes, had to keep her in a crate for two months to limit her movement. That was about 3 years ago and have had no further problems.

The loin muscle structure supports the spine. A weak structure or overly long back gives way to weakness that can result in injury. A fat out of shape hound also is at risk.
Our little hounds are suppose to be athletes of the first order and resilient to pursue game. One of my friends had a really good hound that I thought of breeding but had a weak back and injury disqualified him as a sire. He was a little long but not bad but the loin could not support his structure and once injured, was weak and subject to reoccurring lameness.
Most recoveries require limited exertion and medication continued.

My female is 14 3/4 tall ,was in great shape lean and built good not overly long bodied ,been at vet since Tuesday on steroid and IV ,X-rays showed the herniated disc if not trying to use back legs by Monday Vet recommend surgery .Female is only 3 years old I've had her since she was young ,in 27 years first time I seen this in a beagle . Guess I was lucky till now .

DON'T let the beagles jump off the tail gate --vet said that is what happens to our beagles DISC ----THEY ARE PRONGED WITH DISC TROUBLES :nod: :nod:
ALWAY GO BY THE RULES AND NEVER A PROBLEM
