WHO's GOT THE BEST LINE CONTROL (stud dog please)

Re: WHO's GOT THE BEST LINE CONTROL (stud dog please)
Watch some of these dogs run and decide for your self. Its like talking about speed, everyone has his own interpretation of speed. Same with line control, had someone tell me that his dogs had great control but when I watched them run they over ran by 30 to 40 yards. That was good control to him. Went to a trial in PA and my dogs overran by 10 feet and got picked up I thought they have good control. An older gentleman at that trial told me that there were dogs in the same pack I was in that could run a rabbit with out a break down. I didn't believe him until my dog and a few others got picked up the the two left down did indeed run with almost no break downs. Every body and every region has its own idea of what control is. To me if they over run by 10 yards and keep loosing the rabbit I don't consider it in control. Just my opinion...dh

You should look at other trial formats as ARHA Little Pack has 15 second losses.
That doesn't promote a dog to Champion that has few loses but has more losses and recovers them after 15 seconds has passed.
A dog that runs loss free would not even place.
Chick out ARHA Big Pack or SPO or a dog that is kept for hunting that doesn't have enough checks to trial.

If your dog the strike an or jump an then by chance ran loss free for a hour you won the cast...if you have a jump dog that can keep other dogs from scoring I'd say you'd be setting pretty good in little pack. I've ran several formats some of the best cleanest big winning dogs came from little pack some of the roughest I seen where in pp or midwest. But I've seen great ones in all of em

I agree, those are exceptions though. Another exception would be if all the other dogs in your cast ran a deer off and yours stayed and ran loss free it would win.
Most win and become Champions and Grand Champions and big time studs by their cast having the most 15 second losses and your dog recovering the most of them. Not by running loss free as the questioner asked.

He's long gone, but FTC Mikerma's Superdog had extreme line control and typically threw it in most of his offspring, double up on it in a pedigree and it stays generation after generation... He also threw superior hunt and brains into his pups.

Yes, I've seen some nice Super Dog hounds. FC Smith's Bonny Lou was by him & a Prop bitch. Bonny was the Mid-West Top Dam three years in a row; '07, '08, '09.

Re: WHO's GOT THE BEST LINE CONTROL (stud dog please)
Striker bred hounds consistently have good control.
Re: WHO's GOT THE BEST LINE CONTROL (stud dog please)
Better go with an Awful Bawlin or ThreeJays Jack's bred hound. Foot with great control, brains and hunt. Buddy of mine has a direct Striker male and he is out of IFC Squirrel Creek Angie to boot! These lines seem to cross well with almost any other bloodline. They are consistent, generation after generation!
