PUBLIC HEARING FOR OHIO DOG TRAINING GROUNDS

Post by tdog »

There will be a public hearing on the proposed rule changes by the Ohio Dept of Natural Resources.

The Public hearing will be 9-24-15 at 9am
1500 Dublin rd. Columbus Ohio

A council meeting will be held on Wednesday night. 9-23-15 at 6:30 PM
If you would like to speak to the full wild life council you must call to register two days prior (call by end of day monday 9-21-15) 614-265-6304

Please attend if you oppose the change to shut down our dog training on state ground a month early. This will also hinder any trials scheduled in the month of April.

Here is the proposed change.
1501:31-9-05 Training Dogs (Effective March 1, 2016)
It is proposed to amend this rule by adding the month of April to the time when the training, exercising or working dogs on wildlife areas and public hunting areas is prohibited, unless approved by the Chief. The period closed to dog training will be from April 1st to August 31st, annually. This will provide additional protection for ground-nesting birds and reduce conflicts during the spring wild turkey season. The rule will be clarified to allow for the use of dogs in conjunction with legal hunting on these areas.

The final vote will be Oct 27th

Please attend if you can. It may help preserve our sport for our children / grand children. Everyone except the ODNR knows that the BEST running is in April.
