Saw on the local news where the state is doing a mail and phone survey over the next few weeks to check the interest in allowing Sunday hunting. According to the reporter if the interest is high enough a bill will be put before the general assembly to legalize Sunday hunting in NC. The outcome should be interesting and will depend for the most part on who they survey..

You can go to the NC hunting website and post your opinion now. An outside company is conducting it. From what I have read the fors outnumber againsts but by a small margin. Even an afternoon only would be OK with me. I just wonder how some of the deer hound clubs would handle hunting near the rural churches. It is tough for some people to justify hunting when you can go only one day per week or give up valuable holidays with your family.

The news also reported that license sales in NC was down about 22% and as we know anytime the state is loseing money they will pass new laws to help make up the deficit. Right now hunting is about the only thing not allowed on Sundays. You can fish, play all forms of ball, attend races, and in the last month buy lottery tickets with your beer and wine on Sunday. Might see this one pass with the stipulation that you can't start till 1:00pm.

The link that I read said it was proposed for a morning hunt then after 1:00. What I also read was no dog hunting. I think this is being done for the deer hunters, but they are the largest group buying liscences.
