no doubt...the part about me not being able to cross a fence to get my dogs scares me. The Sunday hunt thing is no big deal for me though, and I like the commitment to keeping public lands public. I don't think any have passed yet but they may soon.

this was posted by p-townchris on beagleboard. It is a great thing to sendto our reps!!

Honorable Delegates,

Please vote ____ to HB2531. Hunters and citizens need a legal avenue to be able to retrieve their hounds/pets from posted property without consequence.

Please also vote ___ to HB2303 which would permit landowners and anyone with landowner's permission to hunt on Sunday. Essentially, this would allow anyone to hunt on Sunday on property he now has permission to hunt Monday-Saturday. I strongly oppose any hunting on Sunday.

Please vote ____to HB2365 which would prosecute anyone who removes an electronic collar or any collar from an animal and makes that person a felon and liable for the dog if the animal is killed.

Thank-you for your support on these bills.

Sincerely,
_______

I found out the hard way that crossing a fence for any reason onto private property is criminal trespassing,And it does not have to be posted.I crossed a fence to retrieve a downed deer and was confronted by the land owner and game warden,I was fined 150 dollars and possibly my hunting priviliges for two years.(Thank god for a county judge that is a hunter)
Anyway you cannot cross any visible boundry without land owner's written permission.

That is what they are proposing here. Right now we can cross on foot and without a weapon to retrieve your hounds without permission. I am not real sure about getting game from other's land though. :)

Last I heard from my reps was that they changed it to make it mandatory to identify yourself to the landowner but you could still retrieve your dogs. Not sure if that's the final version or if it even passed.
