NC needs help/Bill 460 almost law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by NC rabbit hunter »

Please help us guys and gals!!!!!!!!!!! Dont let these animal rights nuts run us under!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!On Thursday, 8/6/09, the House Commerce Committee met in a hastily called meeting, with not all members aware of the meeting. SB#460 narrowly passed with a vote of 14 to 12. At least two opponents of the bill did not hear about the meeting.

Now, the bill goes to the House Finance Committee, which will meet at 4:30 pm on Monday, August 10, 2009. Fortunately, we have time to alert all Finance Committee members about this bad dog bill.

WE MUST DEFEAT THIS BILL! Please contact the House Finance Committee members. We need your help today and over the weekend. Please call your own Representative and as many others as possible. Ask them to vote NO on SB#460.

The House has gone home until Monday, so contact the House members at home. Their home addresses on are the individual member pages of the NC General Assembly web site http://www.ncleg.net.

Warn House members of telephone calls from out of state. Gossip at the General Assembly earlier in the week included the following: The Legislative Assistant in a Senator's office admitted, "Calls have been about 50-50 for and against the bill. But only about 5 of calls in favor of the bill had NC area codes!" Surprise! HSUS had outsiders calling to make it appear as if NC voters favor the bill when we do not.

SB#460 is and always has been an animal rights activist bill. The purpose is to locate, harass, and ultimately destroy small dog breeders. This bill would provide a foot-in-the-door to your dog pens! We must alert House Finance Committee members to VOTE NO.

It is very important that Finance Committee members HEAR FROM THEIR OWN CONSTITUENTS. See the counties listed in each Representative's district. Call and email your own Representative first. Then, contact all of the other Finance Committee members. They must hear from North Carolinians!

North Carolina is not now, and never has been a "puppy mill" state. We are proud of our strong civil and criminal laws protecting animals against cruelty. We have good laws. This is an artificially created "crisis" by animal rights activists to try to grab power against dog breeders of every description.

The bill is vague and ambiguous in the important definitions. This bill is not merely a "registration" bill. Commercial breeder will include anyone who has (not necessarily owns) 15 more more intact female dogs of breeding age (what is that?) and 30 or more puppies primarily for the purpose of sale. (If you don't have dogs for sale, animal rights radicals can still allege you do have the dogs for sale, and force you to retain an attorney and go to court to prove them wrong.)

There is no effective exemption for breeding hunting dogs (Section 2). The exemption is only if you board or train hunting dogs. There is no exemption language for "breeding" hunting dogs.

For more information, read the latest version of SB#460 at http://www.ncleg.net.

SEE ATTACHMENT WITH INFORMATION ABOUT HOUSE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEMBERS. Please call and email them immediately.

Politely ask them to oppose Senate Bill #460.
Include your name and address in your emails.

Thanks for your efforts to protect dog hunting and dog breeding in North Carolina.
