anti-hunting HSUS and others at Sat. Indiana cervid council

i attended Saturdays Cervid Council Meeting at Ft. Harrison in Indy. The focus of the council is supposed to be finding compromie agreements on the issue of deer farming and high fence hunting. during the hour for public input many of the amish and others involved in high fence hunting and deer farming stood up to defend what they have been doing for years. It was interesting to find the Indiana Deer Hunters Association taking a stance that they wanted to see all deer farming and high fence hunting closed. the main focus seemed to be their worry about boone and crockett scores. they were followed by the anti hunting group HSUS, or the humain society. first Joe Bacon, President of the IDHA simply stated that the IDHA opposed any form of deer farming or high fence hunting and called for it to be banned completely. then a lady from HSUS stood and stated that she was against deer farming and high fence hunting because she was a bambi lover and glady admitted it. Another situation that was almost equaly disturbing was that one of the members of the cervid council who has stanchly blasted deer farming and high fence hunting seem so uninterested in the public input that he brazenly read a newspaper rather than listen to input. It is the hope of the Alliance that a compromise can be reached and that the stubborn few who stand in the way of success will see that they are out numbered by members and interested parties that do want to see deer farming and high fence hunting to remain in some form and will yeild to reason. As i understand it $45,000.00 dollars is being spent on the cervid council and it would be a shame if the stubborn few caused that money to be wasted.

negative comments on IDHA boards

there apparently is someone making comments on the IDHA board that does not sit well with the moderators there. I am already being blamed for those comments by at least one of the moderators on that board. Know that i do not desire, nor will i comment on the IDHA boards. Fact is i had a conversation recently with Glen Salmon of IDNR and assured him that i would distance myself from that situation. I will continue to report what i see happening that affects our issues on the beaglers boards however.. should anyone know who it is that is making the comments please ask them to refrain from posting negative, counter productive messages there, if theyare one of us. i suspect the person is a member of their board that is just not happy, but that is certainly their problem to deal with.
thanks guys.

I have read on this Board where the IDHA supports the DNR and the Biologist who write and tell the public that the wildlife are being stressed and that all hunting needs to stop on Dec.15th. in an area of 800 and sum od acres, so that that the DNR in Indiana can study the statistics to prove that the wildlife are being stressed compared to other public hunting areas.
the Indiana DNR employee (wildlife biologist) believes all types of hunting should stop on Dec15. because wildlife needs this amount of time to regenerate themselfs to be able to survive the Indiana winter weather.
I'm sorry but hunters are not out chasing a bunch of pigs in a farmers back barn lot .LOL.
When I see anyone write this kinda anti hunting stuff ,I will speak up and support ,what I know is the truth.
IF the IDNR or any of there anti's want to call this a NEGATIVE COUNTER PRODUCTIVE COMMENT . then thats what you call the pot calling the kettle black.

i agree don

i certainly get very concerned when groups that should be defending sportsmans rights and opportunities are aligned with the non-hunting and anti-hunting groups in our country. comments such as "i was all for the bird dog guys till they wouldnt give up that three days, and now i think they do need field trialing taken away on state land" made by an IDHA member, and the fact that Delaney sent a letter to the Audiban society asking them to align against beaglers in their quest to keep dog training open on state land. then at the last cervid council meeting Joe Bacon stood up and denounced the deer farmers and deer hunting preserves, asking for them to be completely banned, and got the HSUS group to clap their hands at his comments. this is behavior from a group that should be standing shoulder to shoulder with sportsmen that are taking every opportunity to stand against them. makes me wonder how long the real deer hunters in the state are going to tolerate it.
in a recent meeting with Glen Salmon of Fish and Wildlife over the dog training situation, i talked with him about the strong and aggressive mode of assulting me that certain IDHA members were taking. i also promised him that i would not be involved in name calling, and have been true to that promise. i will not promise to stop exposing anti-sportsman actions of others, but rather will stick completely to the issue and not make negative comments about those people.
thanks don for your interest.
