West Michigan Beagle Club State Hunt

Mark you calendars for April 12 & 13 for the state hunt sponsored by the West Michigan Beagle Club. Hunt will run out of the Otsego Township hall in Otsego, Michigan. Several good running areas with good rabbit populations. Field classes: Opens, Champs, and Grands. Bench for Opens, Champs, Grands, and Puppies. Entry deadline; 7:00 a.m. More information to follow. A note to out-of-staters: I've done a little looking at motels and probably around Kalamazoo would have the largest variety ( Supper-8, Motel 6, etc.) along the 131/I-94 corridor. It's about 18 miles from the check-in building. There's a Comfort Inn in Plainwell about 4-5 miles from the check-in site. Allegan also has a motel or two about 10 miles away. Hope that helps.

We had an organization meeting yesterday. Here's an update.

This is a LP State Hunt.

Pre-registration will be Friday, April 11 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Otsego Twp. Hall, 400 16th St. Otsego, Mi.

We need field judges. Please contact Jim Preston if you can help. Pay is $20.00 per round.

After the expense of the World Hunt, if lodging is a factor as to whether you come, a few members are offering limited lodging in their homes, if that helps with expenses.

Most of the rabbits have been resting all winter. They should be ready to run.

We've started running our spots lined up for the State Hunt. So far we've had races everywhere we've been. Weather should be good, the snow mostly gone, except maybe in the woods, and the rabbits want to run. Hope to see a lot of you in Otsego, Mi. April 12 & 13.

We've had great running the last couple of days. Tonight we ran 6-8 rabbits in an hour and a half. Some longer; some shorter but all produced score. Hope to see you Saturday in Otsego, Mi.
