ABC Fast Pack-New Format for Hunters and Trialers

Post by PDBCPres »

The American Beagle Club(ABC) will be hosting the Fast Pack Winter Series. We are a new Sanctioning body with formats for the rabbit hunter as well as the trailers. We have recently been approved by the SCDNR and no out of state license required. These are open hunts for all beagles. Both grade and registered dogs are welcome with no additional hound registration fees required. The series will consist of four hunts. The series will use the national fox hunter’s rules but will only be JUDGED ON RABBITS. Hounds will be scored on Hunting, Trailing, and Speed & Drive. These scores will supply you with your Endurance and HGA scores. The hunts will be run for 4 hours in the wild with all hounds competing in one cast. If you have never heard upwards of 50 beagles blistering a rabbit, oh what a sound. Hounds will be allowed to run shocking and tracking equipment.
The hunt dates are tentatively set for January 7, February 11, March 17, and March31. The hunts will be held in South Carolina.
Each hunt will have $300.00 worth of gift certificates to be given to Top 10 in HGA. All other classes will receive certificates for the top 10.
A portion of the entry fee will go towards the series High Point Hound Awards. These Prizes will be awarded at the end of the series. Series points will be awarded based on the number of hounds entered in each hunt. The more hounds we have in hunts the more money for prizes and awards for series.
The hounds must be beagles that measure 16 inches and less. Each hound will be measured in a natural stance.
If you are interested in competing against the some of the fastest and hardest hunting beagles in the South, these are the trials for you. These will be the fairest hunts you will ever attend. It’s not about paperwork or selling dogs it’s about fun and fellowship and seeing who has the best beagle.
For more Information or to reserve #s call Brian Hicks (843)495-7397 or Sonny Broach (843)389-2069. The numbers will be good for all four hunts.
No individual hound registration required to participate, Just a one-time $10 hunter membership fee will be assessed to each owner who enters a hound. Entry Fee will be $10 a hound.
We look forward to meeting new friends and having a good time.

Everyone who enjoys good fellowship should come at least once. Not just running for titles and champions. It seems like over the years whether or not your dog is a champion has become way too important. Me and a few more of us still like to just go and compete and hear good running. everyone will be welcomed and if you enjoy talking beagles you will have a good time.

Mapquest shows the shortest way to be 789 miles and about 13 1/2 hours. Way too far for me to travel to a trial , but I like the sounds of that format to try sometime. Good luck with it.

Things are looking good for the Fast Pack upcoming hunts. We have hunters from several states committed to coming and joining us for our upcoming series. The dog count should be between 70 and 100. The more the better. Their are $300 in gauranteed prizes and more are falling in place. A couple local venders have stepped up to make these hunts a success. If you are interested in Fast Pack, try and make our first hunt January 7. This way if your hounds do good you will be in the running for the series championship. These hunts are just going to be the start of bigger and better things to come in the future. These hunts will be run for 4 hours so you will get your moneys worth. You will also be able to see first hand how your dogs are stacking up against the competition. For more information call Brian (843)495-7397.

The upcoming hunt on January 7th will be sanctioned and permitted in accordance with SC DNR regulations and no out-of-state hunting license is required to attend the trial. The sanctioning body is the American beagle club, ABC. It is a new sanctioning body for all types of beagle trials. This is gonna be the first hunt, We are NOT affiliated with arha/NKC in any way and will not be. If you are interested in a good format to trial your dogs where you will be able to go into the field and see the dogs as they do the work instead of sitting in a designated area while somebody tells you what your dog did or didn't do then you should give this a try. Anyone who has questions or comments feel free to post them or PM them to me. The main goal of the American Beagle Club is going to be to cater to the hunters as a whole and everyones opinion is welcome whether you like what we are doing or not. We will be posting a copy of the rules shortly and the website will be up and running shortly.

The Fast pack format will only score on rabbits. Dogs that run off game will not be scored or scratched. Many people run beagles on fox and deer and we are open to them running in a different ABC format if anyone would like to form one they should contact PDBCPres or myself, but the Fast pack division will score only on rabbits

just be sure bring broke dogs , last year one my friends said lot deer races at the hunt he attended near Florence, so if your dogs broke you stand better chance of winning or doing well. is there a size limit 15 or 16 inch, are the dogs purbred AKC ARHA UKC. I like arha big pack rules.
