Fleming blows up Paul Ryan's Puerto Rico Bailout Bill

I can't believe these morons are attempting a bailout - much less in an election year. It's good to see Fleming stand up to this idiotic chairman.

A spokesman for Bishop, Parish Braden, said that Speaker Paul Ryan and other top House Republican leaders were not present at that meeting, but acknowledged that Bishop had asked for panel members to allow a voice vote. Braden added that Bishop ended the meeting by saying they were free to ask for a recorded vote.
Ryan’s office on Wednesday called the bill "good, conservative, commonsense legislation that protects American taxpayers and gives Puerto Rico hope of economic revitalization."

It is "Wall Street" Seeking a bailed out. These guys purchased triple tax free equivalent bonds with super high yields for these munies. Like 9% to 10%. That is highway robbery in this interest rate environment and they are tax free.

I know these rich Wall Street bond investors are puting a lot of pressure on Ryan but seriously screw these guys. It's time that they assume the risk for their poor choices. Not the tax payer. darn it, I didn't get bailed out in 2008 when my investment portfolio took a 45% hit.

You know who's up for a bailout after Puerto Rico? Yes, Illinois and California.

We the tax payers get to pay for the mistakes of the bondholers in these liberal states. It's their risk not the tax payers. They should know the liberial states like Illinois and California will have difficulty paying their debt obligations.

The bond holders want the upside all to themselves but they want the tax payers to pay for their losses.

Never thought that I would think of the Carter presidency as "the good old days".

Fact: From my birth in 1942 my living standard improved every year until the Jimmy Carter presidency. Then it dropped. Reagan rescued us and we continued upward. Then Obama.
I have sympathy for the younger folks. There was a school teacher on FOX this morning in NY talking about the election. She said when a vote was taken in her 8th grade class, Bernie won easily. Everything will be free. No one pays. That teacher needs some retraining. Surely she could come up with a model that would educate the ignorant spoiled brats.
