Post by Dr. Chris »

The only way we can get a real understanding on who to vote for, is to be honest. People from both the Democratic and Republican sides have to stop exaggerating, blowing things out of proportion, inventing and creating situations and circumstances that don’t exist. Facts only, it’s not about the two parties, it is about what is best for America now. Because we are in real bad shape. If we were talking pedigrees or lines I would say stop being kennel blind to one line and look at the truths before you. Just look at some of the things some of you are talking about.

From 1995 to 1997 Obama and Ayers sat together on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago charitable organization. Also in 1995 Ayers won a $49.2 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation — matched two-to-one by public and private contributions — to promote “reform” in the Chicago school system. Ayers also lived for a while in the same neighborhood as Obama. The “bombing” that you are referring to happened in the early 70’s and it was done by people that were associated with the people that Ayers knew. By the way, Obama was 9 years old and lived in Kansas at the time with his mother and grandparents going to a Baptist church. Ayers over the years worked closely with several politicians over the years, speaking to congress and was on several boards, raising money for different things, mainly charities and if your going to pass judgment on everybody that knew him or crossed his path over the years than you need to include George Bush, Bill Clinton and Ronald Regan to name a few.

As far as Michelle Obama and Dr. Cone, she used one of his quotes in a speech out of his book and she stated that he has many quotes that if they were implemented in more people’s lives, the world would be a better place. That quote was this; “"Therefore, whoever fights for the poor, fights for God; whoever risks his life for the helpless and unwanted, risks his life for God. God is active now in the lives of those men who feel an absolute identification with all who suffer because there is no justice in the land." I personally don’t have a problem with the quote. I do not believe they live their lives by his whole book. She was borrowing a quote from his book that fit well with her speech.

As far as his Pastor cursing and say GD America, he didn’t! This was totally taken out of context. If you saw it played back for yourself, he was making the point that America’s motto supposed to be “God Bless America” and his point was after God blessed America, then America in return turned their backs on God “morally” to the point that it was no longer “God Blessed America” if something did not change we were all going to experience the wrath of God and it was going to be “God Damned America”, as in his wrath. I think he should have used more wisdom on how he said it, but I don’t necessarily disagree with his point.

As for his gun control, he plainly has stated that he is for hunters rights. He believes that it is possible that hunters can have their weapons and at the same time we can prevent a 14 year old kid walking in a school and blowing away 20 people. His whole stance is a deeper search and thorough check of who is getting the guns and keeping them away and out of the wrong hands.

As far as George Bush and the war? If my neighbor across the street came into my yard and did something to one of my children, I would go to his house to make him accountable. If he was not home or I couldn’t find him I wouldn’t go next door to another neighbor and take it out on him instead because I couldn’t find the neighbor responsible. We had no business in Iraq. It started out they were behind 911, found out that was a lie. So than we went because they were manufacturing weapons of mass destruction, found out that was a lie. Than it switched to, we were there to bring freedom to a suppressed people, and than we ran with that, running with that was better than admitting a mistake even if it did cost a few American lives and Billions of dollars. One life lost is one too many over George Bush’s lie and all those responsible for the war, trying to cover up the biggest mistake in modern history and trying to cover their ass. Osama Bin Laden should have been tracked down and taken care of a long time ago. And this is not a Republican thing or a Democrat thing. Ronald Regan would have gone to Pakistan and put a nuke down his throat. It’s about George Bush and his administration being the worst and most incompetent administration in our nation’s history in every area; economics, education, healthcare and especially our military at war. I will be glad to see him and his 18% approval rating gone for good.

You can twist the facts and blow anything you want out of proportion to make it seem or appear to the point where it pleases your conscience, but when you get realistic and look at the facts only, I still say with the candidates that are running, for me it has to be Obama/ Biden. Also, I am a registered Republican that is totally ashamed of who I voted for last time and I do not intend to make the same mistake twice.

I really hope this is not an issue of white/black and male/female. I get the feeling for some, there is no way you want a black man or a woman in the white house, but if you have to pick between the two evils, you will pick a woman. I personally just want what is best right now. I would have been happy to vote for a Clinton-pres. & Obama-vice ticket.

I know some of you will bash me, but this is my opinion.

If Alan Keys or Colin Powel were on the ticket I would vote for them. It has nothing to do with race for me. Obama's track record and his mentors are what bother me. I still for the life of me will never be able to understand how any American could vote for him. Don't let your hatred for President Bush blind you. That may be a terrible mistake, IMHO.

You have pretty much sum up how al of these facts about Obama has gotten out of hand and twisted. I personally feel the same way you do about Obama, and think he has been given a bad shake on these issues. The ONE fact about him that i have a problem with is his EXPERIENCE! For that reason i want to lesson to what McCain has to offer and was anticipating him choosing an EXPERIENCD candidate. But, he through all of those Republicans a curve ball with Sarah Palin. Now all of a sudden the Republican Party is on its heals and trying to save face. "What a great, great conservative pick", McCain is a genius, and Palin is the best choice ever made!

Well, I totally disagree! Two years in Government doesn’t get it done for me. Crap, I could run for VP if i would have just taken that PTA spot last year too. Sure she looks good, but looks isn't getting nothing done!

I can't stand Bush, and the thought of another 4 years scares the crap out of me! This country is in trouble! Banks failing, economy is in shambles, we are about to start WWIII over Poland??? What the hell is this President trying to do with that? When Russia puts missiles back in Cuba lets see how we feel! We have no BUSINESS trying to do something like this in the first place!

Anyways i got off of track there, but this isn't going to be an easy pick if you’re the type of person who doesn't wear blinders! Yes i said it...BLINDERS! There are a few die hard Republicans and Democrats who are ignorant in my opinion if they can't take the time to look at the facts for themselves! Both sides have pro's and con's and this is not the time to get it wrong! Everyone should be evaluating every issue out there because this is one of the most important Presidential elections EVER! With three US Supreme Judges at stake the constitution as we know it could be in jeopardy! Experience, sex, race, are all on the table for this election, and it will be a big relief when it is all said and done!

Steve, I am not registered Dem or Rep. I vote for what I think is the best choice. When I see a post I dig and look for all the facts. The more I Look at Obama the more I see his ties to the wrong people. I wish we had another choice but we don't. this has been a good clean post and I hope the truth is brought out.

Dr Chris good post however I believe you did not give all the facts, just part. I don't have time to post everything but here are a few items to consider:

The “bombing” that you are referring to happened in the early 70’s and it was done by people that were associated with the people that Ayers knew.

This was a group he founded:

to the Chicago Sun-Times and I quote “William Ayers, a founder in the 1960 of the radical Weatherman group, which embraced violence.”

Tells me he was one of the 3 or 4 who founded the group

During his conflict with the USA here is a response from a group that he contacted:

Another quote for Mr. Ayers about contacting the Black Liberation Army: “The Black Liberation Army, who urged us to blast away at colonializing racist power everywhere no holds barred.

Black Liberation Army and Black Liberation Theology; starting to see the relationship with Dr. Cone yet?

Yes, Ayers crossed paths with many people however; they were not guest in his home for political gain.

Here are more facts from the Chicago Times:

While Ayers and Dohrn may be thought of in Hyde Park as local activists, they’re better known nationally as two of the most notorious — and unrepentant — figures from the violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement.

Now, as Obama runs for president, what two guests recall as an unremarkable gathering on the road to a minor elected office stands as a symbol of how swiftly he has risen from a man in the Hyde Park left to one closing in fast on the Democratic nomination for president.

“I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.”

Now about Dr. Cone:

First Malcolm X was a big influence on his teachings. Here are some facts about Mr. X

CRISIS IN FAITH
It was the voice of Malcolm X that first made James Cone question his theology. Malcolm X proclaimed loudly that "Christianity is a white man's religion," and said that blacks should adopt an understanding of God that grew out of their own history and experience. He railed against a blond-haired, blue-eyed Jesus and a belief in the delayed rewards of heaven.

1943
• Malcolm moves to New York, specifically Harlem.
• Becomes a waiter at Small's Paradise.
• The U.S. Army finds him unsuitable for the service on account of mental problems (apparently, he behaved in unsuitable manner on purpose, in order to avoid the draft).
• Known as "Detroit Red.
• Involved in criminal activities.
1944
• Indicted for larceny, he goes back to Boston, given a three month suspended sentence and one year on probation.
1945
• Returns to Harlem, New York.
1946
• Convicted of larceny, breaking and entering, and carrying a weapon. Malcolm is sentenced to eight to ten years in prison. He starts to serve the term in Charlestown Prison.
• Here he begins reading as many books as possible and educating himself.
1947
• Transferred to Concord Reformatory for fifteen months.
• Influenced by some family members and impressed by letters from Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm converts to the Nation of Islam (not to be confused with actual Islam).
1948
• Transferred to Norfolk Prison Colony, Massachusetts, where there is a great library.
1952
• Malcolm is released from prison after six years (instead of eight to ten) and meets Elijah Muhammad in Chicago. It is here that he receives the legendary 'X' from the Nation of Islam.

I am voting for McCain/Palin. I will not vote for obama because I think he is full of crap. Mrs. Clinton and Obama talk about bringing jobs back when Mr. Clinton signed NAFTA.

Having said that, we all know Mc Cain's view on gun control and of course Palin's. Here are Obama's, whether we like it or not (from his lips):

Q: Is the D.C. law prohibiting ownership of handguns consistent with an individual's right to bear arms?
A: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.

Q: You said recently, "I have no intention of taking away folks' guns." But you support the D.C. handgun ban, and you've said that it's constitutional. How do you reconcile those two positions?
A: Because I think we have two conflicting traditions in this country. I think it's important for us to recognize that we've got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families. We also have a violence on the streets that is the result of illegal handgun usage. And so I think there is nothing wrong with a community saying we are going to take those illegal handguns off the streets. And cracking down on the various loopholes that exist in terms of background checks for children, the mentally ill. We can have reasonable, thoughtful gun control measure that I think respect the Second Amendment and people's traditions.

Q: When you were in the state senate, you talked about licensing and registering gun owners. Would you do that as president?
A: I don't think that we can get that done. But what we can do is to provide just some common-sense enforcement. The efforts by law enforcement to obtain the information required to trace back guns that have been used in crimes to unscrupulous gun dealers. As president, I intend to make it happen. We essentially have two realities, when it comes to guns, in this country. You've got the tradition of lawful gun ownership. It is very important for many Americans to be able to hunt, fish, take their kids out, teach them how to shoot. Then you've got the reality of 34 Chicago public school students who get shot down on the streets of Chicago. We can reconcile those two realities by making sure the Second Amendment is respected and that people are able to lawfully own guns, but that we also start cracking down on the kinds of abuses of firearms that we see on the streets.

2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month
Obama sought moderate gun control measures, such as a 2000 bill he cosponsored to limit handgun purchases to one per month (it did not pass). He voted against letting people violate local weapons bans in cases of self-defense, but also voted in2004 to let retired police officers carry concealed handguns.

I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer's lobby. But I also believe that when a gangbanger shoots indiscriminately into a crowd because he feels someone disrespected him, we have a problem of morality. Not only do we need to punish thatman for his crime, but we need to acknowledge that there's a hole in his heart, one that government programs alone may not be able to repair.

Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions
Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:
Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.
Source: 1998 IL State Legislative National Political Awareness Test Jul 2, 1998

Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
A bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others. Voting YES would:
Exempt lawsuits brought against individuals who knowingly transfer a firearm that will be used to commit a violent or drug-trafficking crime
Exempt lawsuits against actions that result in death, physical injury or property damage due solely to a product defect
Call for the dismissal of all qualified civil liability actions pending on the date of enactment by the court in which the action was brought
Prohibit the manufacture, import, sale or delivery of armor piercing ammunition, and sets a minimum prison term of 15 years for violations
Require all licensed importers, manufacturers and dealers who engage in the transfer of handguns to provide secure gun storage or safety devices

My opinion on this is, my sister was killed by a Chevy, maybe I should sue them......

All this was taken from http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Barack_ ... ontrol.htm . There is a little more there but I tried to get some of both sides. If gun control is one of the main reasons you will vote for a canidate, let's all make sure we do our research completely.

That's real life around here, not some premodonna prancing around. Teen pregnacy is a problem here as well as it must be in Alaska. I know I had sex as a teen as I am sure Obama, Biden, McCain did, and maybe even yourself.I was just fortunate not to become a father at a time I was not ready. Just shows me Palin has the same issues as common folks. Also, I will be willing to bet you she does not kill her child

Who Vetted Obama?

AIM Column | By Cliff Kincaid | September 2, 2008

It also turns out that the DailyKos got the leak from the Obama campaign of the candidate’s alleged birth certificate…

The Washington Post reported that John McCain’s vetting process for picking Governor Sarah Palin included an FBI background check. Other reports dispute this. But when did the FBI investigate Obama? Who vetted him?

We are living witnesses to an incredible media double standard, whereby a Republican vice-presidential candidate’s personal life is being torn apart, while the Democratic presidential candidate continues to get a free ride. Obama has a 30-year history of associating with unsavory characters, beginning with communist Frank Marshall Davis and continuing with Jeremiah Wright and communist terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, which should disqualify him from getting a security clearance in the government that he wants to run.

But the media would rather talk about Republicans and sex.

The leftist DailyKos website started digging into Palin’s past and claimed that her fifth child wasn’t really hers. The charge fell apart when pictures surfaced of the governor pregnant with the child.

Nevertheless, the media, which have been so quick to ignore questions about Obama’s background, joined in the inquiry into Palin’s private family matters and forced the governor to disclose that one of their daughters is pregnant out of wedlock. This is what passes for investigative reporting these days.

A daughter’s pregnancy, of course, has nothing to do with whether Palin is fit for the job of vice-president or even president and is entitled to a security clearance. But one’s associations with communists who hate the United States might emerge as a cause for concern.

It is worth noting that the DailyKos site is the same site that a liberal blogger named Lee Stranahan says banned his comments about Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards needing to answer reports that he had had an extramarital affair. Those reports, which came from the “tabloid” National Enquirer and not from any “respectable” major media outlet, turned out to be true.

It also turns out that the DailyKos got the leak from the Obama campaign of the candidate’s alleged birth certificate, an announcement intended to put to rest all of the questions about whether Obama is a natural-born citizen and passes the basic constitutional requirement to be president. Is the document real? I have not seen any investigative reporters from the major media assigned to this story. Instead, they’re sniffing around Palin’s family, which is something they had no desire to do while John Edwards was cheating on his cancer-stricken wife.

In contrast to the Palin story, which will probably continue for weeks, the Obama birth certificate controversy has been left alone by the major media. They have simply assumed―because they favor his candidacy―that Obama, with a history of being moved from country to country under different names, is a legitimate U.S. citizen. A lawsuit has been filed challenging Obama’s qualifications to be president and some bloggers say the birth certificate is a fraud. But it’s not an issue for the major media. They would rather examine photos of Bristol Palin’s tummy.

An FBI investigation of Obama might get at the truth about the Democratic candidate. But an FBI background check is something that the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party has not been forced to undergo. How many people even know that?

But whether the FBI investigated Palin is now becoming a controversy.

In contrast to the focus on Palin and her family, the Post on August 24 ran a 10,000-word piece about Barack Obama’s growing-up years in Hawaii that completely ignored the role of his acknowledged mentor, communist Frank Marshall Davis. There was not one word devoted to an identified communist, who also stands accused of drug use, alcohol abuse, and child molesting, being in intimate contact with the Democratic presidential nominee for about nine years of his young life.

The author of that Post story, David Maraniss, told us that he didn’t think Frank Marshall Davis was worth even one mention in that 10,000-word story. He even said that Obama’s own book was incorrect in ascribing a significant role to Davis in mentoring the candidate. As the facts show, Davis became Obama’s father-figure when his real father abandoned the family. The mystery is why Obama only referred to Davis as “Frank” in his book and concealed his true identity. But the Post doesn’t want its readers to know anything about it. But we do have a right to know that Bristol Palin is pregnant.

It will be coming out that Obama’s mentor, Davis, was the subject of an FBI investigation for 19 years and that his FBI file is 600 pages long. Davis was included in the FBI’s “security index,” meaning that he could be arrested and detained in the event of a national security emergency. But the young person he sent off to college, who would admittedly attend socialist conferences and pick Marxist professors as his friends, doesn’t have to undergo an FBI background check and will run the FBI should he become president.

In contrast to the coverage of Palin, the major media have not highlighted that, for all of his “experience” in foreign affairs, Senator Joseph Biden, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, is an exposed and admitted plagiarist. I have watched countless hours of coverage of the campaign on the cable and broadcast networks and haven’t seen one detailed story about Biden’s history of plagiarism.

But can you imagine the outcry if it came out that Palin, who graduated from college in journalism and became a sportscaster, had been caught plagiarizing?

Meanwhile, the Obama campaign is already claiming to have found a skeleton in Palin’s closet. An Obama spokesman, Mark Bubriski, charged that Palin once supported Pat Buchanan for president because she was spotted years ago wearing a Pat Buchanan button. And since Buchanan has been charged by some with being a “Nazi sympathizer,” that means that Palin is tainted and has to explain herself. Buchanan, a commentator on MSNBC and columnist, has exposed this as nonsense. But he is not the main target, of course. It is Palin and McCain. It is a campaign dirty trick designed to smear the Republican ticket and hurt its chances with Jewish voters.

Assuming that this is a legitimate topic, when will Obama explain his association with a Moscow-line Communist for nine years of his life? And his failure to come clean about that relationship in his 1995 book, Dreams From My Father? This seems to be more serious than wearing a button.

For the record, it is reported that Palin actually supported Steve Forbes and wore the Buchanan button as a courtesy to the candidate when he visited Alaska. In a related development, pro-Israel bloggers claim to have seen photos and video of an Israeli flag on Palin’s left lapel and an Israeli flag in her office. So it would appear that she is a supporter of Israel, the exact opposite of what the Obama campaign was trying to imply. Now that this is out of the way, how will Obama explain Davis? Or will he ever be asked to?

For its part, the Washington Post has assigned at least two reporters to dig up dirt on Palin. One controversy is that Palin is under investigation for trying to fire a state trooper who threatened members of her family. On two straight days, August 30 and 31, Post reporters James V. Grimaldi and Kimberly Kindy authored articles about whether this trooper should have been fired or not, and what role Palin played in the controversy.

Since trying to fire a trooper who threatened your family doesn’t strike most people as improper or illegal, the Post now seems to be taking a new direction. The Tuesday paper carries a page one story about how, when Palin was mayor of a town in Alaska, she sought federal grants.

Tomorrow it will be something else.

McCain has a blogger, Michael Goldfarb, who is supposed to be an attack dog when it comes to media misdeeds. He calls a report by Elisabeth Bumiller of the Times “fiction” and offers her a link to the McCain press line.

This is said to be tough stuff from the McCain campaign. They obviously don’t understand what they’re up against.

Just a little less than two hours before she falls on her face? I'm very interested in hearing her talk, but it looks like this girl has a lot of baggage! Stories are surfacing everyday, and I’m starting to feel like McCain really chose the wrong VP. Republicans everywhere will be trying to save face for this sorry decision all the way to Election Day. The great maverick’s decision to shoot from the hip is going to blow up in his face this time. Hopefully she can deliver an Obama type speach!

Unless we convert to their religion they would slaughter us all like pigs. Obama can not stop what they wish for us.

Palin gave a wonderful speech. I am pleased and have no doubt that America will make the correct choice and elect McCain/Palin in spite of the biased media and coolaid drinkers.
